how do you stop a branded troll from regenerating?

I don't know what a branded troll is, but generally fire/acid stops troll regeneration. Are they some form of Fire resistant troll or something? That would just be mean.

The Troll in the map area "The Old Oak" i finished with an everburning torch. Put one as a secondary weapon, does the job pretty well, although dont switch to it until you've downed the troll switch to the torch when its down.

Fire or Acid damage usually shuts off their regeneration
