Too much gold needed for custom NPC
I don't understand why the game is so harsh on this regard as it seems to me it's really going to hurt replayability. Seriousl, with that setup and tutorial, why can't we start with a full party of customized adventurers, specially due to how limiting the choices are and how unforgiving the game can be during level 2.
If it stays like this, a couple of long hours are needed for a full custom party due to the whiping 10000 gold needed, that will also mean not buying anything forever.

It's hard to justify paying less. I mean they're doing the same job as you without getting any say in the kingdom.

Indeed, this got brought up in a few other threads, plus the price rises as you recurit.

in the end, this is a bad design choice, we should have had the option of a full party (custom) as soon as we hit the trading camp, and it didn't cost too much to do it. I would have prefered to play with a custom party then been forced with NPCs that don't work too well in the party setup I'm using.

Whatever, it's easy to find other ways for it to work in the story. I mean, the castle at the start had a lot of nameless adventurers, you could had the option to create a full party before getting into the map instead of taking the pregens. And if you say "they all died" rember, this are design desitions, not a coment on a set story.

I think the first reason for the price beeing so high is that your not suppose to hire anyone early game, this coud be "fixed" with locked slots or similar tho. Second reason is prob becuse price don´t go up when you lev up. 2k for a lev 20 grp is nothin.

You mean the tutorial castle? what nameless NPS? I remember saving some from the fire, but I couldn't talk to them later.

Meh, use cheat engine to get more money. Problem solved.

Because they want to force you the premade companions.

Writter ego, in short.

This seems to be the case. The cost in POE was far more reasonable. You could afford to buy characters roughly at the rate you could pickup companions.

In this game, I have a party of six, and if I sold everything could maybe afford 1 custom character.

They probably just wanted you to have slots open during the first chapter. 2k gold is very, very easy to make. I think, not even looting everything, I made around 20-25k in the first chapter.

I dunno. I am 35 ingame days (still doing the find the stag lord quest, act 1) into the game and had 8k saved up.

Admittedly the only thing I have bought was the bag of holding. so that 10.5k by the end of the kobold/mite dungeon.

Their cost grow by Level Squared times 500... so you will NEVER have enough money (i am at level 6, solo, buying equipment for just 1 character, i have 8k spare gold, companion costs 18000).

At level 20 they will cost 200,000 GP and that will be hilarious.

I have to go test that one. If it is so, I am going seriously ROFL. Then cheat in money when I decide if I want another character

LOL Yup, 8k for a level 4 hero. Ew. I had 8k but I wanted to buy me a +1 full plate

This is a problem. With my first character, I went for one of those weird build that take a while to take off and I got Valerie at the end. Right from the get go, you have 2 NPC who deal very little damage. You can make Valerie hit due to fighter if you remove her tower, but her STR is still low and the bard deals 0 damage due to not being able to have precise shot at level 2.
So I only really had the barbarian as a reliable damage dealer, few sources of healing and no money for a henchmen. After getting to the giant tree I gave up. I was out of potions, i was still 200xp away from level 3 and had already lost 10 days. I'm playing with auto-save only btw because I don't want to savescum.
After that, I tried again with a Wizard, but something similar happened.
Finally, I rolled a 2h fighter with 20 str, and now the game finally works as its suposed too in core rules with no quick saves, which kinda sucks because it makes me feel like I would have to tone down the difficulty a bit to try some of the weirder builds.
IDK, this is kinda disapointing. The game is good, but the salsa of this game is to create tons and tons of builds and party setups and they somehow made it hard to play arround with the system!

Yeah I ended up just cheating the money to pay for them... I do understand it from a balance stand point. A full party would waltz through the early stuff unless maybe the difficulty was jacked way up. I ended up adding a custom character every level gained to try to maintain some balance, but it would've been nice to be able to start out with a full custom party if I so wished and not have to pay tons of gold for it.
