Crossbow Multiple Attacks Question
I tested out Rapid Shot with my crossbows and I was able to get two attacks per round at level 2 without a need to reload. Does anyone know if crossbows have a reload time in this game? It doesn't seem that Rapid Reload exists, and crossbows seem to attack just as frequently as bows so far, unlike the tabletop Pathfinder rules. Can anyone confirm whether or not crossbows allow multiple attacks from high Base Attack Bonus at higher levels?

my understanding is that bows allow multiple attacks from base attack bonus, but crossbows do not

Thanks. Was there something in the game that mentioned that? Or are you referring to the pinned post? The pinned "tips" post seems to say that crossbows can't make multiple attacks per round, but my testing with Rapid Shot seemed to contradict what it said. I've seen a lot of people making assumptions on how crossbows worked based on the tabletop Pathfinder rules, and wanted to see if anyone was high enough level or had a way to actually test it in-game since it might not necessarily be the same.

yeah I read it in that noob guide, haven't gotten to high enough level yet to test in game

It would be a good thing to test...Crossbows are severely gimped in the PnP rules, hopefully that was carried over here.

Has anyone been able to test this out with multiple attacks from a high Base Attack Bonus?

Crossbow attacks depend on what type of crossbow you use.
Light crossbows need a move action to be reloaded (3 seconds).
Heavy crossbows need a full action to be reloaded (6 seconds).

Picking the "Rapid Reload" feat Light XBows need a free action (0 seconds) and Heavy XBows a move action (3 seconds).

Bows are unaffected from Rapid Reload and can reload as a free action from the beginning.

This does not mean that Bows and XBows are unbalanced. It's just that XBows fall in the simple weapon category and thus are usable by almost any class from the beginning, while Bows are a martial weapon and can only be used by martial classes from the beginning.

Yes, that is how it works in the tabletop system, but as mentioned in the posts above, basic testing with crossbow attacks show that it does not work that way in this game. Crossbows don't seem to need to be reloaded in this, and the Rapid Reload feat does not exist in-game. Both Heavy and Light crossbows were providing 2 attacks per round using Rapid Shot at level 2. I'd say that alone means we can't rely on the tabletop rules to make assumptions about how they work here, and is why I was wondering if anyone had a chance to do further testing once they are at higher level.

I've not seen a rapid reload feat I don't think they added the load function to crossbows in this game just tweaked the accuracy possibly for quicker reloading

So, what is the verdict? I would prefer to use heavy crossbow, not only for a bit more damage, but also for looks.

I've been using one for a few hours seems to work just like a bow as far as I can see

if you have 1 standard attack + rapid shot it will fire twice a turn every 3 secs (6 secs a turn)

I just got to level 6 and can confirm that you get the additional attacks from your crossbow from both rapid shot and high BAB. I was getting two attacks per round at BAB +6/+1 with a Heavy Crossbow normally, and three attacks per round with Rapid Shot activated. Essentially the reloading mechanic has been removed in this game.

I also tested out Manyshot, but it seems that feat still only works with bows.
