Aldori Dueling Mastery / Using a single one handed weapon with only one hand and nothing equipped in your off hand
So I got this feat which read like this : You gain a +2 bonus on Initiative checks as long as you start combat with an Aldori dueling sword in your hand. As long as you wield only a single Aldori dueling sword in one hand, you gain a +2 shield bonus to your AC.
However, for some reason I don't get the bonus to AC. I think my character might be using it with both hands but I don't know how to switch between two handed grip and single handed grip. Did anyone find out ?

Should be a single handed weapon according to the tooltips, but havent tried it yet. Are you playing a shorty race? Not sure how it works in this version of the rules, but in 3.5 edition races like halflings use onehanded swords like twohanders.

Nope I'm playing a dueling sword which is a single handed on a human fighter/mage. There's absolutely nothing in my off hand but my character still use his weapon with both hand. I know it gives bonus to damage but I'd like my feat to work.

It's probably an ability once it's equipped? Have you checked the pop-up ability bar?

Yup nothing at all. Still have the same old options.

Do you meen the "defensive parry", the aldori special talent you get at lev3?

"when you make a full attack with a dueling sword you gain +1ac until begining on next turn"
That increase +1 evry 3ed lev, to a max of +6 at lev 18

says nothin about only using 1 duling sword or using something else in offhand. Sounds wierd to be hoenst.

But it replace armor training that is equal to +4 max dex bonus on armor & -4 armor check penalty. So i don´t see why you woud go normal fighter insted of aldori, becuse it gives +6ac instead of +4 & dont need high dex. Seems like there gotta be a drawback beein aldori.

Nope I'm talking about a feat named Aldori Dueling Mastery. In order to get it you need Dodge and weapon focus.

I'm not seeing the AC bonus on my sheet either, or the Initiative bonus in fights. And my character is swinging it with two hands for some reason.

Same problem here, no AC or Initiative bonus. The feat does nothing.

I've found that the only way to make your character wield the dueling sword 1 handed is to take weapon finesse, weapon focus, slashing grace (dueling sword).. then you swing it 1 handed

havent leveled to 3 with this character to see if it fixed dueling mastery but it 100% fixes the 1 handed issue

Some conditional AC bonuses don't appear in the UI. For example, while fighting defensively, the -4 to attack and +2 to AC apply in combat, but the character sheet doesn't reflect this. Same with Power Attack and Piranha Strike. If you haven't tested it in combat, look at the next time someone has attacked you and see if your AC is what it should be with the bonus. If it isn't, report it in the bug forums so Owlcat can fix it. :)

Could you try putting the Dueling sword into the other hand and see what that does.

this bug was really ticking me off so I tried a different build
Still wanted a dex based fighter so tried an elf fighter with elven curved sword - finess and it seems to be working A 2 handed sword that uses finess? I did not know that was possible.
+6 attack at lev 1 with 18 dex Since it is a 2 handed blade solve the problem
Thinking about duel classing with Wizard? What do you think

The Elven Curve Blade is special, it's the only 2h weapon that lets you finesse.
