walking and running
Hey guys - quick question...

Every now and then my characters walk extremely slow - sometimes they will do a slight run which is bearable - but other times its like a snails pace to move.

Do I need to enable anything for them to run - at least the light jog that they can do?

Im having the same problem.

Noone is above "Light" and their fat asses won't even do anything more than a casual stroll.

I think it has to do with the total party encumberance in the bottom right hand corner of the inventory screen

Yep! It's total party encumbrace.

Just below your party inventory. Only just seen the bar. Thanks.

The encumberance for each individual character only counts what they have equipped. It does not count the extra unequiped gear.

Total party encumberance takes that other stuff into account.

Hmm if your not at the max? I was below the encumberance level and still had the issue. If say one character is fatigued does that slow the entire party? That might have been it in my case.

Seems like I have to camp every couple of mins - they might want to tone that down.

Right in the beginning I had this issue without any solution. Picked up the first guy's armor, oops too much, dropped it and was still slow for the entire encounter - WTH?

You probably are a race with a 20/ft movespeed which makes you slower than normal. You also probably have an ability turned on that further reduces your movespeed (They don't turn off outside of combat).

Check your active abilities and disable any that affect movespeed.

I'm having this same issue. I was moving fine when I entered the current area (outside spider cave) killed the deer and started moving slow.

- I haven't picked up any new character races since area started
- All party members are at light individual encumberance (except val at medium, where she has always been)
- party total encumberance is below the first pip on the line and says 'light'
- I turned off all stances and other toggled abilities

Any other ideas why I'm still moving so slowly? It's terrible.

edit: each party member, selected individually also move slowly except my druid's bear summon, who moves normally if not part of the group.

edit 2: I saved before the spiders, and reloaded when I failed to kill them; movement speed returned to normal upon reload. Seems like a bug...

It's nothing to do with base walking speed (such as halflings etc), it's literally just happened to me.

They were running around normally (still slow mind), then suddenly just started walking at a snails pace after an event.

The only thing I can think is that they walk now because it's raining... Wasn't before the event.

Yep, just stopped raining and now they are running again.

So it looks like the weather will affect the speed of movement, must count as difficult terrain.

This is what i've noticed too - the weather affects movement speed.

I can understand if it was icy in a snow field or a desert - where weather does affect movement. But just raining should not. If anything they should probably be running faster to get out of the rain LOL.

This should be changed imo.

Aye, it should definitely be changed. I mean, I could understand in combat. Fields could become bogged down in mud etc, making movement more difficult.

But outside combat, you shouldn't have to deal with it. Would be nice for a speed up button like on PoE2, but I imagine that would actually take quite a bit, so isn't likely.

This is pritty stupid honestly, i can understand walking speed in combat. But outside combat all you do is walk from place to place...there no bonus by walking faster so that evryone walk slow becuse one person have a problem is silly. My main char got bad dreams so constant fatiuge/exhausted.

I think there is something wrong with this tbh. If I tab out and back into my game my characters return to walking at a normal pace.
Gareque Sep 29, 2018 @ 9:01am
Did you try re-alt&tabbing to see if it removed it again? Alternatively, a quick save and load?
