max dexterity?
so i have a studded leather and 20 DEX.

My armor says Max dexterity=5

what gives??? am i limited to only 5 DEX???đ

Max dexterity is your stat bonus, not your actual stat. You have a +5 max dex bonus, which is what you have at a 20 dex.

That's the maximum dex BONUS to AC you can have while wearing that armor. 20 Dex provides a +5 bonus, so it's not a limit. If you get a higher Dex, you'll want to start wearing lighter armor.

It is a limitation on armor. Padded armor has a max dex of + 8 I believe. This is done to balance the armor out with ones more innate possible advantages.

The Max Dexterity is referring to the dexterity bonus, not the score. 20 Dex gives 5 Dexterity bonus, so the studded leather is perfect for you.

10 is 0
12 is 1
14 is 2 etc

That means that you can have a max dex bonus of 5. 20 Dex is a +5 bonus, so you're not loosing anything by wearing studded leather

I have dex 22 and dex bonus of +6. Why does my dex bonus still remain +6 even so im wearing a armor that have 5 max dex?

Because it only caps Dex as its added to AC.

Your Dex bonus remains +6 for all other purposes (ranged attack, melee attacks using weapon finesse, skill checks, reflex saves), just for AC, you're only adding 5 to AC because of your Dex.

Ok I just switched armor to chainshirt +2. Max dex is 4. That means only 4 dex will be add on my AC. But if I go with my cursor to my AC it says I only have +3 dex bonus? Why not 4?

Did switching to a chain shirt change your personal encumbrance? Encumbrance also applies a Max Dex penalty.

is it the max bonus ONLY to AC tho? i.e. can i get a bonus bigger than the armor's max dex stat, to dex related skill checks? to reflex or whatnot?

uhm yeah im sorry asking but....
i just equipped a plate armor with +1 dex limit.

but the stat-window still says 18+4, theres no window where i can see my current "real" dex ?
