Does the animal talent allow you to talk to animals?
i saw for one of the subclassses for druid that you can talk with animals with ease. Is it the same thing like in DoS2 or more like you can mind control them?

I was also wondering about this, also in relation to the animal domain available to clerics.

That would be pretty awesome.

Strangely I don't think there's any dialogue options with animals despite the sheer amount of animals you encounter and the number of times druids and their magic are brought up in game. Even if you take levels in druid you're not recognized as one by NPC's in dialogue.

The speak with animals and speak with plants spells are not in the game, so I guess no.

Even though ive got the domain for it, that says "speak with and befriend animals", none of the animals in the game allow me to do either.

Does anyone know if this is just a bug or rather a generic bug that seems to have copied most of them without their game fitting in?

Made by google translate :3

Its not a bug, They just didnt include it as part of the gameplay unfortunately

Lore (Nature) allows you to get some options with animals but nothing like in DOS2, no.

That's right ♥♥♥♥. Apparently, the developers have only copied the most and claimed they have developed it. Anyway, that's my feeling and if that were the case I would be really disappointed with the developers.:steamsalty:

There is this creature at "Old Sycamore" called "Lonely Shambling Mound".
I played the game once and on my second start I am playing a druid now with the domain animals.(mostly because of that creature) I guessed that I now will be able to talk to that creature. But well... no i am not. sadly. So I am a lil disapointed with the developers of this great game and i still don't know what to do with this creature and the (maybe or maybe not) hidden quest.

The Speak With Animals spell isn't in the game and the Animal Domain just gives free castings of it.

It's also less useful than in the Divinity universe because... well... they're still animals. The dialogue with animals in DoS seem to make them a lot more intelligent than they would be.

Critical Role had a good example of the drawbacks of tanking to animals. Here's an animation someone made of the scene, the bit I'm talking about is near the end when Keyleth is using the DnD 5e version of the spell to question the cows (after Scanlan used an illusion spell to make them all look like cows). Turns out; even if you can talk to them, cows are still kinda dumb.

Speak with Animals wouldn't work on it anyway even if it was in the game. Shambling Mounds are plants.
