Transformation Stats Question
Hey,

Quick question: If I were to say Wild Shape and have a -2 Strength would that carry over to the assumed Form or would I just get the physical stats of the new form? Same goes for the sorcerer and the draconic transformation.

Basically I'm asking if I can "ignore" physical stats at character creation and still be effective in the form or if the physical stats of say my halfing have an impact when I am a dragon?

I want to know too. Someone said to prestige Linzi info a dragon and I'm not sure if that's a good idea for 8 strength.

any sort of polymorph effect, wildshape is included here, changes the physical stats of a character, str dex con, to the stats of what creature they become while keeping the mental ones, int wis cha, as is.
i didnt try it in the beta, but that is how it is in the tabletop version atleast.

so if linzi suddenly transformed into a dragon her base strength would become the strength of w/e she turned into, which is why polymorphing your own allies can at times be better then trying to polymorph the enemy.

in pathfinder polymorphs dont change your stats to the creature. They only act as a buff. Wild shape reads as acts as beast shape 1 when you first get it. Beast shape one says

When you cast this spell, you can assume the form of any Small or Medium creature of the animal type. If the form you assume has any of the following abilities, you gain the listed ability: climb 30 feet, fly 30 feet (average maneuverability), swim 30 feet, darkvision 60 feet, low-light vision, and scent.

Small animal: If the form you take is that of a Small animal, you gain a +2 size bonus to your Dexterity and a +1 natural armor bonus.

Medium animal: If the form you take is that of a Medium animal, you gain a +2 size bonus to your Strength and a +2 natural armor bonus.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/b/beast-shape is the link to it if you want to read beast shape 1 yourself.

What this means, is that wild shape/shape changes, and polymorph effects modify your base stats not change them. If you want to be a good combat character then dont rely wholely on the shapechange. It wont be till much higher levels where your looking at +8str and +8 con with some decent attacks. You would look like them, and you would also gain their natural attacks.

That's D&D 3.5, not pathfinder.
In Pathfinder, your stats are modified by the form you take, with + or - STR/DEX/CON.
If you're a halfling with 6 STR shaping into an elephant (you can't do that in the CRPG, that's just for the exemple) then you get a +6 STR size bonus, so get a 14 STR ...

Just found this. It gives a great break down of how pathfinder works with any sort of polymorph effect.
