Animal companion builds?
I know very little about this game. I read that some classes can have companions. Is there more information about this?

Rangers and Druids get an animal companion, as well as a Sorcerer variant and Clerics with the Nature domain.

Do you want to know anything specific ?

Are there class descriptions or build calculators anywhere?

You can use the information from http://www.d20pfsrd.com since the game uses the Pathfinder ruleset. Also, spidey did a class overview of each of the classes, so you could go on youtube and search e.g. for "pathfinder kingmaker druid". There is also a wiki for the computer game, but since the release is still in the future it isn't a great reference (yet).

You can use https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/ for the tabletop version of classes. Note only the core classes, alchemist, inquistor, magus, and a few archetype are available ingame. There are some changes between the tabletop and the crpg classes. That website should give you a good idea of how the classes should play though.

Thanks everyone. The links are interesting.

Do you have to level up your animal companion in the same way as your character ( stats, skills, feats ) or do they level up automatically and only the char can take feats that influence the animal ( similar to NWN2 )

off topic: In NWN2, every time I got Elanee the druid, the first feat was used to turn her useless badger into a dinosaur companion.

Animal companions are great in tabletop, to some extent.
At low levels, they can be considered OP, as they are allmost as powerfull as a PC and so could be considered as an additional character to the party. At medium levels, they are a nice addition to the party, they'll be an additional threat to the ennemy, and if properly built can dish out quite some damage.
At higher level, they need allmost as much gear as a PC to stay relevant ... which won't be possible with the CRPG as they have no equipment slots.

I think the best class choices for animal companions builds are:

Sacred Huntsman (Inquisitor):
- AnC gets favoured enemy bonuses + teamwork feats
- medium spellcasting class, +15/+10/+5 attack bonus

Ranger:
- AnC gets favoured enemy + favoured terrain bonuses
- light spellcasting class, +20/+15/+10/+5 attack bonus

Mad Dog (Barbarian):
- has 3 unique feats for the AnC
- +20/+15/+10/+5 attack bonus

Multiclass to get +16/+11/+6/+1 attack bonus:
- Sacred Huntsman 15 / Ranger 5
- Sacred Huntsman 15 / Mad Dog 5 > AnC gets 2/3 unique feats from Mad Dog

I think there is a feat that allows you AnC to get 4 more levels for classes that dont have an AnC, so you can choose any class that allows for an AnC at 1st level and add 4 levels of any other classes without an AnC and still have its level the same as yours.

The Ranger only gets an AnC at 4th level, so you 100% need this feat to make the Ranger a viable class choice for an AnC. You can get 1 addtional level in a non-AnC class in order to get its desireable level 1 feats.

By the way, your animal companion's Strength is counted when the game calculates your party's maximum encumbrance =)

I would also like to know about this question that was asked, since I was thinking of making a druid. Will we get the chance to level up our animal companion separately and pick from their feat list for them? For me that was a big deal in PnP so if they make them level up automatically I'd probably ditch the concept.

Is it possible to buy armor and other equipment for animal companions?

No, and you actually can't select feats or stat boosts
