Kesten Garess as Warden
I'm at the point that I can assign a Warden and I am stumped on how to place Kesten Garess as Warden. I have had the conversation about what role he would like to play but he still doesn't appear. Is there some less than obvious cue that I am missing?

Kesten will insist on searching for this "Lamashtu’s Womb" once he hears about it, suggesting you return to the capital and save the people - including Jhod - who may be dealing with a nightmare scenario. He will not be dissuaded from this task, and left alone, Jhod and Kesten are both in mortal peril. If you care about saving them, you’ll need to prioritize and it is possible to save both if you’re quick. This means you’ll need to refrain from resting if at all possible, and since there’s a great number of monsters to slay, that might make this something of an endurance trial.

ideally you’ll do what you need to do to save one character, then leave the area and go rescue the other.

In practice, Jhod has more time than Kesten, so you should go to Lamashtu’s Womb first, help out Kesten, then abandon the area and return to Tuskdale to help out Jhod.

Yeah, the fact that you can't use him is a cue.

I used him in the last playthrough.

I read he won't help if you're Evil. Otherwise, you just need to get to a certain point and have the Warden slot open.

Hmm I thought helping him with Mother of Monsters was rescuing him. I helped him calm the riots as well.

You can use Kesten as a Warden even if you're Evil.

About Kesten during the Season of Bloom subchapter (in response to Ave) :
You can dissuade Kesten from going in the Womb of Lamashtu (require Lawful alignment), and is the only way actually really supported by the game to save both Jhod and Kesten.
If you trick the game by following Kesten in the Womb, then after rescuing him, insta travel to your capital to save Jhod, you can indeed save them both, but later you'll notice with a dialog text than the game thinks you dissuaded Kesten from going to the Womb.

I'm just glad I didn't walk into another bug. The hunting grounds already cost me a few hours of gameplay
