Ransomware alert?
Bought the game today, played for a few hours with no issues, but when I went to save a game I got a crash to desktop. Not a huge issue, took a break and came back to play a couple of hours later, and my Bitdefender software went berserk when I reloaded the save and began playing again, shut down Pathfinder and put up a ransomware detection alert for 10 of the files in the Pathfinder directory! Running a fullsystem scan turns up nothing, but needless to say I'm very concerned what's going on here... any ideas, developers?

Not sure about that.
Bitdefender Ransomwares stuff is bugged. I had the same issue, Bitdefender only triggering alerts when launching this game.
This Ransomwares stuff is a new feature from Bitdefender last version. It's not surprising that it can trigger false alerts until their cloud receives more datas and gets fixed. You can just toggle that off.

Digging back a bit, seems there are a few people who have seen this - as far back as August, https://steamcommunity.com/app/640820/discussions/0/1734340257881275226/?l=bulgarian as well as a more recent report https://steamcommunity.com/app/640820/discussions/5/1730963192538232564/

First one of those specifically mentions Bitdefender, so I'm fairly sure it's a false positive being kicked off by their Ransomware detection, as Doomed To Lose suspects. So now to work out how to tell that software to stop being silly and let me play the game.

In Bitdefender window : « Protection » tab (I hope that's how it's called in english), on bottom right corner, you can deactivate Ransomwares detections (or add an exception so the game will be ignored by Bitdefender)

Thank you! Saves me a few minutes fumbling through the settings...
