Build Help: AoO based Sacred Huntsman
Trying to figure out the best approach to making this AoO Sacred Huntsman build.

Currently I am thinking 16 sacred huntsman and 4 levels of two handed fighter. Not sure on the progression between the two when leveling. Probably at least 1 of each for the first two levels and grabbing boon companion.

For generating AoO we would have:
Feats: combat expertise > trip > greater trip = 1 (on trip)
When the target stands after a trip = 1
Team Feat: Seize the Moment = 1 (on crit)

This would give 3 AoO, with Seize the Moment potentially giving more per round depending on the crit rate of me or my pet. I am not sure if there is any other ways to force AoO per round, let me know if there is!

Currently I am looking at 2h str based weapons using my feats through class level and the extra feats through fighter to boost critical chances. I am wondering if it would be better to maybe go with a pure dex based set up like an Elven Curved Blade for my AoO options per round? Also with all the extra AoO it might be worth it to just grab 1 level of Viv-er-something-or-other for the sneak attack damage. Going Dex based will eat up even more feats.

Race/Stats are a bit hard to play with this guy since he needs min 13 str, dex, and int. Still have the wisdom score to worry about (maybe?) and constitution. Any advice in this department is greatly appreciated. Feat progression is a bit unkown to me as well since but I think that one is a bit easier to figure out on the go.

Thanks for any and all advice you guys can give me :)

Elven blade or falchion 2h to get higher crit range.

Pet get all your team fight feat so pick 15dex and the one that let you have +4 hit when flanking and auto AoO when one of you or pet crit.

Between that and trip from leopard you should Be fine.
Should probably try to fit a cleaving finish in there to get extra attack after you kill someone.

Thing is between trip/greater trip cleave and potential weapon focus + crit you might be short of feat.

You may want some more fighter levels to help out your BAB progression since inquisitors don't get full BAB. Also consider using a fauchard. I'm not sure how many magical ones there are but they are a reach weapon that has the same crit range as an elven curved blade. Which means you'll have a 15ft reach while enlarge and 15-20 crit range with improved critical. You'll also have access to weapon mastery feats and the double strength class feature (from two handed fighter) with more fighter levels. Of course this entirely depends on the magical weapon options the game provides which I am unsure of.

Thank you for the replies :) Here is what I have progressed my theory with:

Just looked over the feats I would need again and I can definitely make the build work... It definitely is feat hungry though.

The two options are...

STR based 2h
Dipping into 2h fighter. You get the reach to work with cleave and such but the dex score is low, only 14. This only gives 3 AoO. Also get stone grip, overhand chop, and heavy armour.

Human:
STR 17
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 13
WIS 16
CHA 7

DEX based 1h
Dipping into Thug. Easily get 6+ AoO (20 dex at level 4), but you dont have that extra reach to pair with cleave. But this version can take full advantage of crit chains between a 5 foot cleave radius and any AoO that crit. Going thug gives finese training (weapon finese and slashing grace). Also we can still get 2 combat feats from rogue talent. the BAB will suffer more since i dont think rogues are a full BAB class either. Also throw in two levels of sneak attack, uncanny dodge, and Debilitating Injuries.

Aasamir (Plumekith)
STR 13
DEX 19
CON 14
INT 13
WIS 16
CHA 7

Feats I am looking at are (doesn't include Team Work Feats):
Boon Companion (cover for the 4 levels of fighter or rogue)
Martial Weapon Prof (if rogue)
Exotic Weapon Prof. (Elven Curved Blade or Fauchard)
Combat Expert
Trip
Greater Trip
Power Attack
Cleave
Improved Crit
Combat Reflex

Possibly:
Shield Prof (if rogue)
Hammer the Gap
Great Cleave
Improved Cleave

Don't pick. Improved cleave right now it's bugged don't even use cleave when you get more than 1 atk per round. Cleave is a full round action.

Do pick cleaving finish and greater cleaving finish. Those are extremely good as it basically let you aoe cleave whenever you kill something.

Thanks for the heads up and advice on the broken feats and better options.

All that is left is to determine between fighter and rogue subclass. Had more time to look into everything and it looks like fighter will be able to give the +16 BAB (at level 20) but rogue will fall short at +15 (at level 20).

If anyone else out there has any thoughts on the fighter vs rogue multiclass options I posted above let me know. Right now I am kind of leaning towards rogue to have more AoO opportunities.

It's not bugged as far as I'm aware, he's just misunderstanding how improved cleave is supposed to work. There was another thread where we were discussing it here:

Works on Amiri as far as I've seen in my game.

Thanks. I see both you and Batailleuse are in that thread as well haha.

Do you happen to have any thoughts on 2h str w/ reach vs 5ft range dex but more AoO in regards to this build? Its really the last thing I am trying to decide.

I would say that 5ft range and more AoOs would probably be superior in this game because of limited weapon options. For instance you can buy a Keen +1 Elven curved blade right at the start of chapter 2, but I have not found any magical fauchards as of yet besides a regular +1. Besides with the use of Enlarge you get increased reach anyway (:

A fantastic awnswer, thank you. Finally can start playing this game after spending my free time since this game launched trying to figure out what I want to play haha. I have this same issue when it comes to tabletop... I'll spend weeks picking the right character.

Same here! My current pnp game im playing a sacred shield paladin/tower shield fighter that uses a guisarme and tower shield that does something similar to this build except it stops movement when I hit with an AoO and grants my shield bonus to my allies that I planned for like a week before playing lmao

That actually sounds pretty cool. This character inspired me to see if I could mirror it in my next D&D 5e campaign. Would play similar to what you mentioned, minus the shield aspects and probably a lot more clunky. Doesn't look like I can get it into a good place without dipping into some Unearth Arcana stuff so thats at the mercy of the DM. I have never played Pathfinder but it looks like there seems to be quite a bit more build options in terms of class customization.

By the way, any suggestions on domains?
Randomz Oct 8, 2018 @ 10:18am
Pathfinder has been out for nearly 10 years now, and they've added quite a lot of things over that time. If I had to choose a domain for inquisitor I'd probably choose the one that gives void form. I think it's knowledge (could be wrong though). That or maybe glory.

You might consider the Glaive, get the full 6' reach with the greater cleaves. This gives you a large range of targets on the battle field. There is a nice Glaive I believe in Act 2 you can get that does bonus 1d6 dmg but I forget if its fire or something else.

Yea but then you lose out on that juicy 15-20 crit range ):

We definitely want that crit range to proc more AoO. Since we wont have reach, is there any point to even use an elven curve blade? Wouldn't Estoc be better since we can use a shield and its average damage is similar because of the higher minimum damage?
