Btw, there is a book you find on level 2 or so, called beasts and monsters or whatever, which tells you to get some lightning protection when fighting wisps. I wonder if book merchant later sells more chapters of that book, since many people argued that "nothing in the game tells you this".

You can find a copy of the book that describes wisps on the bookshelf in Oleg's dormitory.

Channel Negative Energy. Not a spell or spell-like ability, concealment doesn't matter, AOE. Even though they have good will saves, you can at least affect them with it.
Obviously you will also need Selective Channel. I haven't tried it to confirm that it works in this game. Just using knowledge from pnp.

Mass resist energy, kill, go off map, rest, go back on map, mass communal energy, kill next group, walk out of map, rest, etc

LV 6 Cleric can do 2 casts of Communal Resist Electricity which is more than enough. LV 7 can add Protection Against (Communal) as well.

They are magic-resistant if you missed that part (other than magic missle).

Magic resistance in Dnd is so stupid. I could understand if whisps were immune to PHYSICAL attacks, because wisps, but they should not be resistant to magic, because wisps. If anything magic should do extra damage because it disrupts the magic that keeps them alive so to speak.

wisps can be hit by ANY spell that has no saving throw attached to it ie you can actually acid splash them... or any other damage spell has no saving throw they aren't exactly immune per say.
