Update: If you slash the tree you do get nothing, but the evil god loose's power over the swamp. RP wise since that will be your land to rule I'd like to think a emerald is not worth it for tolerating a child eating swarmp demon godess ya? *Warning* Destrying the shrine curses you with feeble body till you get the curse removed.
Update2: Using the glitch at the time of this writing I ate the bug and it gives you the emerld as Blood Meridian mentioned. If you pass the check you get double the exp you would get if you fail the check. Destroying the shrine gets you a quarter of the exp. Ignoring the shrine gets you no exp.
PS: There is currenty a bug were you re-enter the swamp twice.
Haha, yeah I suppose Good would try to eliminate a threat. Neutral and Evil could go both ways if they thought it could bring them more power.
It would be really interesting if it has a consequence down the road.
actually, done well, Good should try to diplomacize, convert, or purify before resorting to violence. This encounter is comparable to killing a possessed child instead of exorcising the demon/ghost, which is at best a *failure* at finding a better option, and at worst a step on a road paved with good intentions.
Obviously, since that's not an option, the "good" route here is destruction, and an argument could be made for it being like burning scrub brush in order for new life to grow. But any alignment-based metaphor in D&D stuff falls apart if it's nature-themed, since anything natural is True Neutral.
That said though @Thompse412 anything to do with alighnment in D&D/Pathfinder is a utter joke.
