Lander Lebeda
Am I imagining it or is Lander a terrible regent? It seems to me he only wants to make silly decisions that have negative effects on the barony. Like not fix roads to annoy other rulers, take bribes from bandits, pocket a random cow for no reason, etc. I picked him as he's chaotic and in an attempt to remain neutral, not to have a liability that's similar to Nok Nok only stuck up and not cute xD

Kassil is great. It also meant I didn't have to put Regongar or Amiri as my General, as they're both Chaotic and neither of them are Good. Kassil is Lawful Good, which is perfect.

The only downside to Kassil?

When Rostland is invaded, he immediately runs off to help. Amiri did the same thing, so I was down my general and a primary party member. You basically have to ersolve the barbarian war first, but from what I've read, resolving it first is probably the better outcome anyway.

No, I think it depends upon your alignment. Even Lander might be a good choice if you are evil. I don't know as I haven't tried it, but the others would possibly quit on an evil character. If you are neutral or good, one of the other two seems a better choice though.

As others already pointed out, no.
I made a major mistake in picking him the last time. Didn't turn out well.

I'm not sure how this game is actually playable as evil. You end up losing a lot of advisors, and then how are you supposed to run the kingdom when there's nobody who can respond to the events...?

Oh gosh. Well, onwards to seeing what Lander will do...

The Lander choice is killing my kingdom in chapter 4. I don't recommend him to anyone regardless of alignment :(

Well yeah, nor me. You'd end up with a lot of useful ppl dead and many of the others hating you. I was just putting it out there that an evil char might not be bothered by Lander's questionable choices, while maybe the half orc, being good, would wind them up. *shrug*

I play an Neutral Evil Half-orc and picked the old lady. never regretted it. Her advise is actually thoughtful and can make sense even if you are evil and she never has any real ill-intend toward you as far as i know (i am just around the end of the Vanishing Varnhold quest) .
She is a cold-Professional and when it comes to governing thats the best you can hope for.

Fun-Fact i choose the old lady cause i completly missed out on Lander so that i never even saw him as an option in the beginning. lucky me i guess.

As someone who plays Evil on a regular basis....you people Realise that you don't HAVE to kill everyone just because the game gives you the option? i play Neutral evil just fine and haven't lost any advisor. i even got one(Tsanna) because of my evil nature.

You won't have to deal with his crap decisions, but he'll probably still backstab you with a sucky kingdom debuff later. Not sure on that as I haven't got that far, but it was suggested above by another poster.

basically you don't really want lander unless you're chaotic evil. But chaotic evil is somewhat destined to have a crappy kingdom because you are too chaotic and too evil.

Yeah I do realise that, at the same time, the game seems to suggest it as the evil option often enough, but it's not only that - I just imagine the other characters and citizens would get annoyed, though idk what exactly makes them quit or leave. I pick a reasonable amount of evil options myself to stop my alignment from swinging in an undesired direction. BTW you can pick up Tsanna if you are neutral or good chaotic too, she might be a better option than Tristypoo xD The one I've not managed to get yet is Bartholemew.
