Fighter class: No Weapon training for longswords? :(
I was planning to specialize my Fighter with longswords and gave him weapon focus for that. Now I got to lvl 5 and get to choose my first Weapon Training Ability. And the Weapon Trainings cover what seems to me every single weapon .... but the longsword!

This is so stupid. Is it intentional?

And why isnt't the game showing me in the beginning how the abilities actually work that I will get at later levels? So that I can actually plan the career of my character?

In Baldur's Gate or NWN you had a good manual where you could look it all up. How can you make a game like this without a digital manual or these informations in the game?

Had the same thing for greatsword. Weapon training wasn't showing up in any combat logs nor in the character screen. They even said they fixed it.

A longsword should be under the weapon training "Heavy Blades." Note that training covers a group of weapons, not a specific type of weapon, as opposed to say the Weapon Focus feat.

Ok, so there is quite a bunch of other things going on, too. I just looked for longsword. It wasn't in the heavy blades list. I tried it anyway and checked my attack value. I reloaded and did the same thing with light blades. The same value in the end.

So I thought there is just no category the longsword belongs to. If it doesn't work for any weapon... should the longsword be a heavy blade or is it intentionally not defined as a heavy blade?

just select heavy blades.

Ah, thank you very much. This is exactly what I wanted to know.

Update: You can't really go by what's displayed on the Character Screen/Sheet, you have to test it in combat, just tried it myself and after looking up the bonuses in a round of combat all the abilities calculate as they are supposed to, including the heavy blades bonus to attack and damage.

Last I tried it, attack bonus was finally implemented, but not the damage.
