So Vivisectionist [updated]
I've been trying out a lot of random builds(no really im at like 75hrs in act1). And I think I like the Vivisectionist ... a sort of caster rouge that self buffs.

So I've not done a lot with Pathfinder PnP (more a dnd guy). I am trying to brain storm and I was wondering could this work. Vivisectionist/Fighter could I roll this into a polymorphic melee monster? Or am is that a pipe dream? If so any suggestions on what to make this work?

Edit: In case anyone is curious and does not want to sit though the video (hes really hard to understand) here is the super basic run down. Its a Two weapon fighting build that focuses on light mace and a light shield with its bash feats.

Take Aasimar as your race (one with +2 dex Garuda-Blooded is suggested in the vid)

At start
STR 11
DEX 19 All level up here
CON 14
INT 14
WIS 16
CHA 7

Feats
1 - Weapon Finesse
2 - Two Weapon Fighting
3 - Shield Proficiency
4 - Shield Bash
5 - Shield Wall
6 - Dodge
7 - Outflank
8 - Preserve Organs
9 - Improved Two Weapon Fighting
10 - Mummification
11 - Wings (from race)
12 - Greater Mutagen
13 - Shield Focus
14 - Weapon Focus Light Mace
15 - Shield Master
16 - Grand Mutagen
17 - Greater Two Weapon Fighting
18 - Combat Expertise (noted this was a throw away feat)
19 - Improved Initiative (noted this was a throw away feat)
20 - True Mutagen

Not sure I agree with the selection but its a base to work from. It is a pure build because he wants the level 20 true mutagen due its high stat buffs.

Look like you don't need to multiclass it. One of the big advantage ov vivi in this game is that basicaly each level you can get a feat (with the combat trick discovery).

A lot of people in the posts on that video are saying it's better to take 3 rogue for Dex to damage or 3 rogue and some monk for crane style and AC. Does seem like a pretty powerful class with self buffs.

Can you sneak attack with bombs?

the vivisectionist don't have the bombs, it's replaced by sneak attack. Well you can use the discoveries to specialise in one weapon and get the dex to dmg. Multiclassing make you loose the ultimate mutagen (+8 str, con, dex and -2 the others) and some extracts.

Between the extracts and the mutagen, + all the feats you can get, I think survivability should not be an issue. You can get tone of DEX, and tone of buffs (blur, barkskin, stone skin, greater invisibility etc...).

But the best character is the one that suit you.

Everything is right for me. lol. I've played chapters 1-2 atleast 10 times now with completelty different character builds.

Thanks for the information, I'm going to try this on my next character.

is vivisectionist that strong? Like is it better than like 2H fighter or Rogue/fighter or knife master rogue in terms of damage?

it is much like a rouge/fighter that can self buff. it get sneak attack and the such. I don't think it will out damage them just has the ablity to keep up with them with all the self spells, mutagen stat bonuses ect.

I run Vivisectionist as my main, and my build is very similar to yours, except I do Elf and take martial weapon prof. for the Elven Curved Blade that is a two-handed Finessable weapon with an 18-20 crit range.

I've found at least 10. The easiest one if from the Giant Centipede's lair in Act 1. It's a pick though.

If you wanna go dex i would consider a feral mutagen build with an agile amulet. Or elven curve blade and take 3 levels of rogue.

In the beta i did 1 level of armoured barbarian for proficiencies and a small rage and went mostly strength focused. I had a 16 dex and 18 str and used a bow when i wasnt biting peoples faces off. Used a dex mutagen to bring my dex up to 20 for my ranged attacks.

Not my build. Just I know folks might not want to watch a youtube video. So I watched the video Takkik linked and just did a TL:DR

Not sure I would go fully a long this same path. I would most likely willingly dorp the 4 levels off of alchemist to mix in something else as the top mutagen is nice but say tweeking for some monk or pali levels and adjusting the stats might be more fun. Or stay pure and go with a more str focused build. I'm not sure how Im personally going to go with it. But sicne I do love me some duel weilding rouges this might be a nice way for me to switch up from my normal mo.

But using feral you did not have issues later on? Since you can't get magic+ to them or any of the other effects you can find on magic weapons?

Isn't elven curved blade included with elfe race? (I think his proficiency include anything with 'elven').

Not sure it's great to use two handed weapon with rogue like archetype. Do you get the 1.5 dex dmg bonus like for strengh? The advantage of sneak attack it's to do lot of attacks with sneak attack. Each new attack add lot of dmg.

Feral mutagen is like a two weapon fighting feat and improved version in one mutagen. At level 2 you can have 3 attacks if you go unarmed. LAter on, take one handed weapon and you get two extra attacks at -5. I haven't tested if you get a free bite attack with two weapons or two handed weapon, need to try.
For improved natural attacks, have a druid in your team that have special spells for that, or use a wand/scroll if they exist. Alchemist have lvl 3 thorn body extract that add 1d6 piercing to unarmed/natural attacks.

Why take 3 rogue level for dex to dmg? It's an option, sure, but with the vivi you can select a feat each level with their discoveries. It depend if you want or not the extract/mutagen progression.
