sorcerer spell selection
hey there.

i'm trying to play a sorcerer but i'm struggling with my low level spell selection. the majority of the spells have a HD limit and i'm not sure what else is there to take. just magic missile and buff spells? maybe snowball?

my original idea was to make a debuffer with the fey bloodline but sleep and color spray stop being useful pretty quick and i don't see any way to swap them on certain level ups.

any advice on building a low level sorcerer's spell repertoire? thanks

Color spray is a must, imho

Leave the HD-limited spells like Color Spray / Sleep to your mage; that's her job - those are fantastic spells, but only in the early game.

Personally I think these are must-haves either way:

Level 1: Magic Missile (cannot miss, 5d4+5), Burning Hands (aoe, save for half), Ray of Enfeeblement, Touch of Gracelessness (up to 1d6+5 statistic damage, which means -5 to hit or AC). I would take Grease but it's not in the game.

Level 2: Eagle's Splendor, Cat's Grace, Mirror Image. Also consider: Bull's Strength / Blur / Enlarge person - IMO level 2 is buff-centric, but your picks really depend on your party. Melf's is nice but doesn't scale well. Take Scorching Ray if you want to specialize in ray spells.

Level 3: Haste (extended), Fireball, Flame Arrow (maximized/empowered, save for half)
