find his whip ?? where that quest ??
One is to find him and talk to him about trolls, where he checks why trolls are immune to fire.
Second is if you wait, you will get dialoge that nobody saw Barth for while, he will then be uder attack and asks you to find the whip.
If you do not meet him at right time you can miss 1 or both quests. (You can do 1st quest and deal with main bosses before second quests trigger, or you can never meet him if first time you try it is after dealing with main bosses)
Whip is in Trobold, in big room, the room is the one right before bosses.
If you do not find him in time first quests fails, and second triggers right away.
- Throne room event with Kesten Garess that starts the Nature of the Beast quest
- find random encounter with Dalton, he'll point you toward Lone House (optional)
- go to Lone House, talk to Bartholomew, this completes Nature of the Beast
- wait a couple weeks without completing Troll Trouble for another Throne room event with Kesten Garess asking you to ckeck on Bartholomew
- return to Lone House, save Bartholomew, he gives you the Guiding Beacon quest
- then and only then go to Dwarven Ruins, get the whip for Guiding Beacon (if Octavia and/or Regongar are with you, giving them the whip will fail the quest), and resolve Troll Trouble.
- return to Bartholomew to complete Guiding Beacon
