Prone Adding AC
Prone is supposed to make the target flat-footed, correct? My prone targets have +4 instead of -4.

Already reported. Can anyone confirm this is a bug and not intended?

I mean, being Prone does give you AC in pathfinder.

I should clarify, Prone gives ranged ac.

What a terrible rule lol. Very counter-intuitive

In meele you lose ac in ranged your profile is reduced.

OK at least the mele one makes sense.

It must be to make ranged feel more balanced because I always find shooting at prone targets a hell of a lot easier than moving ones.

I guess it could be seen either way if someone is surrounded by people and on the ground, or on the ground behind an object or something

The actual rule is "a prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks". That's how it works in the real world, which is why soldiers are always trained to go prone when under enemy fire.

Ya when im standing right next to the spider it doesnt make sense. But in most other cases it would. Its the opposite when the person is in your face. Its just a strange rule I suppose lol

It's a very sensible rule. And no, prone never makes the combatant flat footed.

Actually it's a stronger effect here then in PnP, where you can even attack (probably even cast?) from the ground (although at a penalty to hit).

Then again, Trip can be used there as any Iterative attack or Attack of Opportunity.

In tabletop, you make melee attacks at a -4 penalty. You cannot use a ranged weapon except for a crossbow (or firearm), but any possible ranged attacks are made at no penalty. You can crawl 5 feet as a move action. Standing up is a move-equivalent action that provokes an attack of opportunity.

In Kingmaker, you cannot take any action while prone and are forced to stand up as a full-round action as soon as you are able to do so, provoking attacks of opportunity even if you would prefer to stay down and do nothing.

In all honesty I prefer Kingmaker's system except that I think you should be able to stay down and maybe crawl. In tabletop Trip is effectively useless. The enemy can still full-attack you just fine and even if they choose to get up they can STILL attack afterward. Knocking someone prone at a distance with some sort of spell doesn't even slow them down much, since they can still stand with a move action and then move again.
