prove your worth part 2. stuck

So after finishing Amiri's first quest I waited for the merchant to pop. Which he did. Now I'm not sure if I didnt get the option to talk about the new monster or I missed it, But the location never popped up on the map.

So now in game time its months later and I forgot about it. I start getting notices about Amiri being pissed cause she cant kill a big monster! Oh right lets go!! Wait its not on the map!!!

So am I totally screwed here? Or is my ONLY option is to go back in time AGAIN to fix this???
This would be the FOURTH time I've had to go back and start again to fix a bug or ill-fated choice. What happens if the quest fails? Is it bad? Cause I'm getting a bit tired of the back and forth with this game.

you can pace the section of the map the Hodag's Lair is supposed to be connected to and hope you don't persistently roll 1's on your perception check to find the node. this is a very frustrating issue to still find in this quest progression. you were supposed to stumble on this merchant fighting trolls ans help him and have a dialogue with him and somehow gleen the location of the hodag and get the idea amiri qould like to kill it, i always find this merchant annoying and don't remember im supposed to actually talk to the guy. it's a strange design choice to have such an easily overlooked piece of dialogue end up spelling the doom of a party member I never leave without.
I think i'm just going to hack my character a +80 perception or something.

so that did it,, i used this:

and just plotted a course from keep to the closest node and found all kind of things.

From now on pump perception on one character so you find way more stuff. I chose Harrim for this and put the free DLC cat on him. You can also buy a head slot item that gives +5 perception in...the capital i think ?
