roc egg
Hi, I just got the tavern quest about the eggs on talon peak, problem is I have been there already and sold them ages ago. I am trying to figure out who has them so I am going round all the merchants that where available to me at that time.
Question is would any of those merchants have reset the stock? I have tried to guy in Varnhold as I remember selling stuff to him before but it looks like he has reset.
The eggs didn't have a gold ring or anything so I assumed they where safe to sell.

I don't think merchants reset.

I am still on chapter 2, I have read that hassuf changes his stock between chapters.
Must have sold it to somebody I am forgetting, been to the fishing village vendor, oleg, all the vendors in the capital including the innkeeper herself (merchant in varnhold too). Is there a vendor around talon peak that im forgetting?

You might be out of luck man.

There shouldn't be any resets happening as merchant stock is pretty much static. At least by that point. The one vendor you really need to watch out for is Bartholomew in the location southwest of capital. He changes his stock like 3 times due to quest changes.

There's his initial stock in the early stages of Troll Trouble, then new stock on Troll Trouble quest advancement by testing alchemist potions or when the timer in troll trouble causes his area to change, then finally post troll trouble stock if he's saved, stays or becomes an advisor.

Other than him that's all the merchants you should have early on if you don't have any new villages created. What about the Alchemist merchant/artisan at Oleg's?

Tried him too, I don't think I would have gone to any other merchants south/west of the capital before clearing my bags so I think its a fail.
I tried going back to the nest to see if there would be another fight/egg after getting the quest but no luck. Hope the devs change it around a little with the egg and make it a quest item or atleast give the option to get some later.

I was just thinking that you may be able to possibly find out when you sold it is by loading some older saves if you have them. See when you had the egg and then when you didn't have it.

Another thing you could try is using Bag of Tricks mod from nexus just to add one back to your inventory. :)

Is that the only source of the eggs btw, cant get them later?
Balekai Jul 20, 2019 @ 2:27pm
Nope that's the only one. :/

Double check your Stash too if you have a lot of stuff in there. It may be hiding.

The only thing I can think of as well is that you sold it possibly to the new random encounter merchant from EE update. The undead one.

If you remember encountering him, that may be where the egg is at and he pops up regularly too.

I have met him a few times but I doubt I was carrying stuff from talon peak to marshes (where I met him) without clearing my bags. I think I may have sold them to the travelling merchant in the capital, the half elf. He is long gone now so unless I find it someplace else I guess im out of luck. Wish the devs would make it so you get another fight with the loot like they did with the star metal ingots for the artisan at the league camp.

That elf merchant seems like the culprit. Again, I would just use a mod from Nexus Mods to add the roc egg back.

It would be nice if the Devs made some QoL changes to these types of semi-quest items to help prevent these types of issues with them.

Yeah, I almost sold the emerald necklace you need for Kimo's artisan quests myself (well, technically, I DID sell it but I was able to buy it back from Hassuf, luckily)

I really don't want to go wiki every item that I may need for a quest in this very long game...

its a minor quest, dont worry with it, take a mental note and next playthrough you complete it not problem

Not like it woulda been HARD... just set a trigger for every quest that the item isn't placed until you receive the quest. They have done this with at least ONE side quest in the middle of the game that breadcrumbs back to a zone from chapter 1...

or even better... just add 1 of each of these items to that skeletal trader's inventory... or maybe to the trader from Tenebrous Depths... but at an exorbitant price. Say it's worth like 5k, you're paying 20k to get it from them and be lazy.

Keep the egg, it's a unique ingredient for the best recipe in the game. I always use that food before entering the portal of no return.
