There are some issues with targeting spells
Every once in a awhile my character does not shoot his projectile in the exact direction I choose. It might be a little to the right or to the left and sometimes it looks as though he targeted my own summons instead of the enemy.....

I know how to play the game and I just been ignoring this glitch for awhile and just now I am fed up with this BS because it costing me to lose hard fights.

So annoying this needs to be addressed immediately.

FYI I know the direction I choose because they show the path of the target in red yet he still shoots it in the wrong direction as described above.

And why we need to discuss it exactly? this is not a bug report forum and there is bug report feature in-game.

You don't work here stop acting like you do ok?
Thanks!
And yes everyone else needs to see this as well some people don't want to buy a game knowing game breaking bugs like this are not fixed.

Well there isn't much to see so far. No information about game version, nor about which spell you use, what you are targeting and how etc.

Not saying its not happening to you, but what exactly happens (beyond you expect something to hit but sometimes it doesnt) is quite unclear to me.

It happens with area of effect type spells. Usually the cone or line shaped ones Usually the spells that have to do with the angle of your caster compared to your target.

For example fireball does not seem to have this issue.

But Acid Spray (level 6) does have this issue.
I can even target the enemy directly and it still shoots off to the left or to the right.

I am currently in a hard fight vs Crag Linnorm and I have just had it with this its just really infuriating that a game that is NEW and I just payed for does not have the basic things working properly. This is the kind of issues players do not want to buy a game over because I literally can't play it that way its supposed to... because it does not work.

Sounds like someone needs to improve their throwing accuracy
Uzkin May 29, 2019 @ 12:28pm
I can confirm this bug exists. It mostly affects "line" type spells: lightning bolt, dragon's breath, fire snake, and so on. The line often doesn't go where you target it but up to ca. 20 degrees in a wrong direction. You may end up killing/damaging your own front line instead of the enemy front line when the bug occurs. Hope they fix it some day so that I can use line spells again.

Its a reflection of your accuracy...

Stop trolling. The targetting of fireball-type spells is working correctly, whereas line-spells are not.

You may want to consider this to be a graphics issue. The missile might be showing to where the target was at the moment of casting, and not to where it is now.

I certainly had never a miss like that, and I was counting my ray crits during that playthrough, so I had an eye on ranged touch spells at least (around level 9-13).

Edit: if a spell does nothing, the other option is that the enemy has SR, which should show up in the log.

because fireball doesnt depend on your accuracy. There are spells that literaly miss when they miss or are saved

Yeah, spells with attack rolls (like rays). But i don't think they are talking about those, but about spells with an AoE like lightning bolt should have no such targeting problems (ony no hit due to reflex save + evasion, but not by missing) but still somehow miss.

Ohh i thought it was that. My spells do awkward things when they are casted with objects in front of them. when I am behind a tree for example, or whenever casted up/down stairs

Thanks for your post that is exactly what I am seeing when it does go wrong it looks to be about 25% off hitt my own units and sometimes missing the enemy.

Also experiencing this bug. Seems to occur only with area spells that extend from the caster (think Dragon's Breath), as described above by Uzkin.

I actually posted about this on the Bug Reports threadl a few weeks ago, and was asked to submit a bug report ingame (F11). Sadly, the F11 bug report tool does not work for me, so I was unable to do that, and never got around to emailing them the saves/reports.

But the bug certainly is annoying: wanted to play an AoE caster and kept killing my frontline.

Seem to recall it started happening after a patch dropped sometime around last November/December, but I could be wrong - I was playing a melee character at the time and the team did not rely heavily on spells for damage...
