And yes everyone else needs to see this as well some people don't want to buy a game knowing game breaking bugs like this are not fixed.
Not saying its not happening to you, but what exactly happens (beyond you expect something to hit but sometimes it doesnt) is quite unclear to me.
For example fireball does not seem to have this issue.
But Acid Spray (level 6) does have this issue.
I can even target the enemy directly and it still shoots off to the left or to the right.
I am currently in a hard fight vs Crag Linnorm and I have just had it with this its just really infuriating that a game that is NEW and I just payed for does not have the basic things working properly. This is the kind of issues players do not want to buy a game over because I literally can't play it that way its supposed to... because it does not work.
I certainly had never a miss like that, and I was counting my ray crits during that playthrough, so I had an eye on ranged touch spells at least (around level 9-13).
Edit: if a spell does nothing, the other option is that the enemy has SR, which should show up in the log.
Yeah, spells with attack rolls (like rays). But i don't think they are talking about those, but about spells with an AoE like lightning bolt should have no such targeting problems (ony no hit due to reflex save + evasion, but not by missing) but still somehow miss.
Ohh i thought it was that. My spells do awkward things when they are casted with objects in front of them. when I am behind a tree for example, or whenever casted up/down stairs
I actually posted about this on the Bug Reports threadl a few weeks ago, and was asked to submit a bug report ingame (F11). Sadly, the F11 bug report tool does not work for me, so I was unable to do that, and never got around to emailing them the saves/reports.
But the bug certainly is annoying: wanted to play an AoE caster and kept killing my frontline.
Seem to recall it started happening after a patch dropped sometime around last November/December, but I could be wrong - I was playing a melee character at the time and the team did not rely heavily on spells for damage...
