Any recommendations on order of region claiming?
I've claimed Shrike Hills, Outskirts and South Narlmarshes, now I have the option of North Narlmarshes and Kameland's. However they're expensive for me so I'm just wondering do people have any recommendations on the order you should claim lands in? Should I work on the northern marsh, the horselands or leave them both and wait to get something else first?

Nope, just claim whatever tickles your fancy.

It's a good idea to always have around 250 BP lying around for projects and other upgrades in between chapters if you're aiming for the region upgrades and other trade deals. I went Southern Narlmarshes first to get the dwarf merchant and Shayna the tulip as they give some of the best early items, then outskirts, then Kamelands, then Silverstep, then Varnhold (auto claim), then Northern Narlmarshes, then Gelenenbon, then Pitax, finished with Dunsward and finally Tor of Levenies, so every land except Thousand Whispers claimed. All my kindom stats were at 7+ and I have all the region upgrades giving me a bunch of kingdom perma bonuses like immunity to poison in claimed lands and such.

Order of region claiming doesn't matter much, but what does matter is where you place your villages because you soon gain the ability to teleport between them (this is in the game's documentation so not a spoiler). The scarcity of river crossing points makes it very time-consuming to reach some parts of the map and you can really help yourself out by strategically choosing village locations. You also want to make sure that when you start claiming western regions, you place a village near the Tenebrous Depths as that is one of the few places you'll want to visit multiple times.

One tip I didn't figure out til a few days ago is that your choices for where you can build a village in a region are limited to places you've travelled to. So to maximize your options, map the area out first. Then pick the spot that you'd find most convienient for eventually teleporting to.

Oh handy advice on scouting before hand thanks. I've a few places already mapped out for village placement I'm trying to spread them out. So generally near the center of the region as long as its not too close to a forced placement one like the capital. Sadly though I expect Pitax, Glenebon and Varnhold are going to have no choice I don't know where they'll go.

Good idea to keep early towns near the capital since you’ll be going back and forth a good bit.

I've one a little south of Oleg's in the centerish of Outskirts, one on a river ford in South Narlmarsh and my capital. So they're not too far apart. However I'm not putting them too close as I expect eventually to be able to teleport for things like Pitax or Varnhold.

As mentioned, the order matters little, especially since being able to claim is tied to story progress and if you're given the option to claim anything you've got enough time to claim all the options before the plot starts back up. The one thing I'd say actually matters is that you can remotely manage your kingdom when in your lands (and a few other minor benifits) and claim resources within your lands (but this requires you actually visit the resources). With that in mind, it's best to claim a region you'll be going travelling through soon before ones you don't intend to visit soon.
