Druid tank?
I want to try a Druid tank companion, but the problem is I'd have to replace Valerie (good tank!) with the druid. What do you think of the idea, can a Druid be a decent tank, but with spells? I assume he/she won't be as good but decent maybe.

I've never tried it. I did some research and someone had a "decent" tank build but I had doubts.

I think a druid can be a decent tank. Not as good as val, but close. You have a few good early on options. You will really be missing out on the DEX bonus though. I find every point of AC on your main tank is a huge deal. Go for all the AC feats you can get as early as possible, and later on go for mythril full plate. The good thing about druid is you can cast every spell in heavy armor

Defender of the True World subclass, give them a weapon with long reach and decent (14+) dexterity with the combat reflexes feat.

You are gonna have their summons tank in front of them while they are on second row with a long reach weapon (longspear, fauchard, glaive). Late game you can shape change into dragons and elementals to tank better

Yeah I was thinking of going DoTW, but also dip into monk for AC. Druid would be a tank, if I get one, but with a pet and some spells. I thought maybe with monk dip and shapeshift and feats, he/she could do OK. Certainly not optimal, but interesting to try. Not really interested in doing much damage with the druid by the way, that's for Inquisitor, AT and Knife Master to do. I'd have to let go of Valerie though and I'm not sure if it'd be worth the swap, even for the sake of having fun by trying something different.

Arent druids blocked from wearing metal armor? At least thats what it says in game. Haven't tried it directly.

Ya a monk dip is probably a good idea. You will be feat starved, and wasting it on improved unarmed strike would suck

He might be referring to them being able to cast spells while also wild shaped.

Yeah definitely not optimal, but maybe viable and fun.

I dont use heavy armor on mine, so you may be right. I just know in DnD druids wear heavy armor, and in P:K divine casters dont get penalized for heavy armor

Well I meant wasting 1 of your 10 feats on something you can get for free with a dip would not be ideal.

In game description for druid proficiencies says they can't wear metal armors unless they've been treated with an ironwood spell. Which I'm fairly certain isn't in the game.

They are blocked from wearing metal in D&D too. Baldur's gate for example had that limitation. but there was a plate suit you could make from bug shells they could wear. But haven't come across anything like that in Pathfinder.

But mostly was just asking in case the description was wrong or they couldn't figure out how to implement it properly. Druid is the one class I haven't been able to make room for on any of my playthroughs.

I just started a game with a main druid very recently, and was thinking last night "why didnt I make her a heavy armor build"

So now im glad I didnt lol. And I think i mistook heavy armor on a fighter/druid for a pure druid in BG. That girl that shouts ""For the fallen" was always in heavy metal armor im pretty sure. She was always very close to my main tank in AC

Either that of I just gave her the aankeg armor like you said lol
