Spawn of Rovagug - how to kill it?
I'm fighting Spawn of Rovagug in the main campaign, any tips on how to defeat it? It heals for about 150 hit points per round, and quickly confuses half of my team. My best try is around 50% but often it has healed to near full health by the end of the fight. And the spoiler creature switched sides so I have to fight it as well, which is not helping.

My party consists of (everyone is at lvl 16):
- PC tank: vivi with a monk dip
- Harrim: cleric(16)
- Jaethal: inquisitor(13) / fighter(1) / thug(2)
- Amiri: barb(2) / 2H-fighter(14)
- Regongar: eldrich scion(12) / dragon disciple(4)
- Nok-nok: knife master(16)

My damage is decent at start but then ppl get confused, party damage drops, and Spawn heals to almost full.

must have hasted party

you gotta move your units around to avoid his aoe, it is annoying

I focused the weak spawns whenever they were up

cleric constant aoe heal ability, was running back and forth because my units were spread out to avoid aoe, another reason has to be hasted

it will take a lot of tries, took me ~20 before I got a bunch of lucky crits and won before he healed ( I think the smaller units heal him?)

I summon spammed with custom heroes druid and inquisitor-monstertact, think my party was mc(2Hfighter) amiri, tristian, customdruid, custominquistor, and linzi for buffs

I am of course fully buffed, including Haste, at the start of the fight. But his aoe dispel removes the buffs quite fast. And the confusions are a real problem; not only do they prevent repositioning but also make my own party members kill each other (and not just kill: Nok-nok also drains str, Jaethal fears, and Amiri blinds ppl). Do I just have to reload several dozens of times until they get lucky with their saves? :/

I've ignored the small adds thus far (I've just used Stinking Cloud on them) but if they indeed buff/heal the Spawn then I'll try killing them. Thanks.

You need to buff the will or compulsion save of you group. any good hope wand, Mass owl of wisdom, prayer anything that gonna help save and hit.

Grandmaster rod + death clutch. Then play defensively until it dies from constitution bleed. The adds can be dispatched with blade barriers. This is what worked for me anyway.

I'm already using Prayer and Heroism (Good Hope doesn't stack with Heroism). I tried casting Mass Owl's Wisdom as per your suggestion.. maybe it helped a bit but one of my ppl still got confused (Amiri).

Grandmaster Rod + Death Clutch x3 (from Harrim) didn't do anything. :( Maybe they've changed it, or it works differently in main campaign?

Mark of Justice trivialized Spawn of Rovagug on my end. I needed to respec one of my earlier companions to become a DEX-CHA Paladin but once I did the Spawn died so fast that I all my characters and summons were hardly damaged.

I still can't kill it with my current group -- none of the spells mentioned here (Unbreakable Heart, Good Hope, Owl's Wisdom, Death Clutch, ...) made a difference. No matter how I buff it just eats my buffs for breakfast, literally, causing it to heal like crazy (up to 200 hp/round) until eventually the aoe dispel removes my vital buffs (haste and/or saving throw buffs).

I'm leaving the fight for now, maybe I'll try again at party lvl 18 or so. Or bring 5 kineticists. Thanks anyway, everyone.

Well, you gave it an honest try. Best to just come back later when you're all leveled up.

Buff with everything you have, cast Mind Blank Communal and have your cleric of Erastil drop Guarded Hearth

Rovagug is basically the incarnation of Chaotic Evil, so yeah the spawn is as chaotic and evil as it gets.

I did it in the main campaign. It is possible that they have changed it, or that the spawn succeeded at its fortitude save. Did you check the log? The spawn does have a pretty high fortitude save so this tactic might only work if you have high DC on necromancy spells.

Yeah, my Harrim could not overcome its Fort save so the Death Clutch tactic didn't work.

But I did manage to kill the Spawn, finally, with my original party. I just kept repeating what I already did before I made this thread: fully buffed my party, tried to avoid its slam attacks, hoped for lucky RNG. And after maybe 20+ tries I got lucky enough to kill it.

What an unfun fight - a fight against RNG.

Just destroyed it yesterday with a fully buffed party that include a MC Vivisectionist, Knok-Knok and Amiri with rogue levels. Cast blade barrier+polar midnight+icy prison mass. With the absurd damage each hit was going with sneak attack (and each attack having crippling strike to deal strength damage)+polar midnight and icy prison dealing dexterity damage. He went down fast.

Necro Question: How did you get past the Fortitude Save of 40+?
