There is no rush to do A just reward, it can be actually be really hard
Bring a potion of Invisibility or two, or if you can clear the mobility check to get over the ravine before entering the fortress, there's two on a corpse there being eaten by wolves.
Approach the tree from the upper right, and you should only draw the hydra, not the rest of the beasties. Kill it if you can, try to lose it's interest if not. If you can make the athletics check to climb the wall, great, otherwise do everything you can to avoid being spotted by the monsters as you head for the stairs, or the redcaps up there. The +10 stealth cloak you can buy at your capital can help.
Once past the redcap patrol, there's one more redcap on the wall, along with a combo entanglement/glitterdust trap - you may have to just rush past and climb/fall down the tree trunk to get out of the fort. The original entry point you used is occupied by a Giant Flytrap, a very powerful enemy, so you need to use the alternative one near the wolves and the corpse with the potions. Once done, you can return and bring down the thunder with a full party.
And my magus suck on athletics/stealth....
No shame leaving it for later, it's a nasty place. A potion of Invisibility is a +20 to stealth, and you can put the cloak +10 on top of that I believe, so even with no investment it will -probably- work as long as you don't get right up in their grill, though. And if you're str-based, the DC to climb the wall is 22 I think, so it may take some save-loads if you want to skip the patrol, but it's doable. Unlike my dex builds of the last two games for who it would've been literally impossible (suffice it to say the rogue did better, but I managed to run screaming and arms flailing with my monk too, even if I almost died on the way out).
