Oh Wow, I wish I knew earlier how RETRAIN worked!
To check each class build, I used to go through the entire tutorial section of the game again and again and again.

Then I saw a tiny RETRAIN button in the difficulty settings and tried it, holy fish I can literally start a character from scratch (portraits, race, class).

I only wish I knew it early on how the feature worked, like I already have 55+ hours at the time of this post and only ever finished Chapter 1 once. Sheesh..

Edit: Resets your alignment to whatever you set, so all the previous actions which affected alignment are cleared away.

Hai. Does it effect companions? I hate being handed pre-made builds for companions and being stuck with what they railroad you into. Class is one thing, but when they have points and skills all deranged it bothers me so. Example- I'm committed to cleave on a warrior because they came that way.

Well the option is now like what a month old or two now? It came with the EE. :)

- It only respecs companions to their original starting level(s), classes and feats.
- The retrain option keeps all of the special abilities earned during the game.

Just watch out because after using it 3 times it starts to cost gold.

Yes, it starts getting expensive fast. After 3 times, I believe the cost increases 10k gold per use.

One thing I recommend is to hire a bunch of mercs as early as possible, while they are still cheap. This gives you a large pool of potential adventurers to customize later, as the situation dictates. Is also fun to have room to experiment and play with different builds later on.

Thanks for the info guys! I'll have to mess around with it when I get it. I'm sure there's a character editor somewhere too. The one I use for NWN2 is wonderful; take em down to zero XP then match the party XP and rebuild.
