you can find resources on the map (points of interest you can claim), stats are raised on successful completion of kingdom problems and opportunities as well as building. for building, you mainly need stuff to boost espionage (watchtower, villa, goblin/kobold quarters) but boosting arcana a bit with mage towers is nice too.
Ok... and is there a way to effectively increase the rate of which you get BP? or is that just forever ♥♥♥♥?
increase bp generation by actually "ranking up" advisors, any advisor, getting more settlements (if you completed trade deals that increase bp/settlement), and a few other projects when you increase kingdom ranks - particularly economy. you can build a mint building once economy rank is at 7 or 8.
it is really slow at first but snowballs into endgame if you do everything. so basically like real life - the more you have, the easier it is to generate more. you should buy bp from merchant only if you have an emergency or you want to claim a new region - never delay on claiming a new region and making a settlement there.
