If you let him live does he return later in the game? If you're evil and he returns is he a friend?

He'll return as one of the Pitax bandits. No dialogs, just a mob with "You should have killed me when you have a chance mwahahahahah"

If you let him live, there is no downside. You get his stash of a couple basic items, and when you fight him again later he is stronger, you get more exp and his +1 items to loot are now +2. Win win.
