Aasimars And their Heritages
So. . . The Aasimar and the Tieflings are rather unique in this game in that they have a natural access to various "heritages", whatever holy or unholy bloodline spawned them, that allows them unique access to several attribute boosts as well as skills and a spell.

As you can imagine this makes them QUITE powerful and give a bit of a headstart in your builds and characters. That said what are said Heritages? Today we shall be focusing on the Aasimar's.

Heritages

Idyllkin (Agathion-Blooded): Agathion's are Neutral Good Outsiders that defend the realm of Nirvana and sometimes take Souls from Pharasma's Court to help Mortal souls reach enlightenment.

Idyllkin possess bestial aspects and calm dispositions, and often act as peaceful intermediaries between lawful and chaotic agents of good.

Agathion-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Constitution and Charisma, and a +2 racial bonus on Lore (Nature) and Perception checks and can use the Summon Nature's Ally III spell once per day."

Angelkin (Angel-Blooded): Angels are a group of altruistic celestials native to the planes of Nirvana, Heaven, and Elysium, and represent all the multiple interpretations of goodness. Most Angels now come from ascended Mortal Souls.

Angelkin are mortal paragons of exceptional beauty, and they serve as exemplars of good and light regardless of the myriad forms they may take.

Angel-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Strength and Charisma, and a +2 racial bonus on Lore (Religion) and Use Magic Device checks and can use the Lesser Restoration spell once per day."

Lawbringer (Archon-Blooded):Archons are a race of celestials native to Heaven who embody fundamental goodness and law. They are the Mainstay soldiers in Heaven's war against the Abyss, Abaddon, and Hell.

Lawbringers are champions of justice and of doling out punishment to the wicked, and often believe chaos is the cause of all mortal suffering.

Archon-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Constitution and Wisdom, and a +2 racial bonus on Persuasion and Perception checks and can use the Hold Person spell once per day."

Musetouched (Azata-Blooded):Azatas are a race of Chaotic Good Outsiders native to the plane of Elysium. Azatas are champions of freedom and goodness, and choose to travel the planes helping creatures in need and battling evil.

The musetouched epitomize freedom and joy, and travel the world to liberate less fortunate individuals.

Azata-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Dexterity and Charisma, and a +2 racial bonus on Persuasion and Mobility checks and can use the Glitterdust spell once per day."

Uncertain

Most aasimars do not know exactly where their celestial powers came from, and the similar qualities of many such celestially touched beings hint at a relatively indistinct or all-encompassing heavenly force in their lineage.

Aasimars of uncertain heritage have a +2 racial bonus to Wisdom and Charisma, and a +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Perception checks and can use the Searing Light spell once per day."

Plumekith (Garuda-Blooded):Garudas are distant descendants of the goddess Janasini, the mother of birds and are Chaotic Good creatures.

Their shimmering avian features make plumekith instantly recognizable. Though they can act rashly, plumekith never shirk their duty after making a commitment.

Garuda-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Dexterity and Wisdom, and a +2 racial bonus on Mobility and Athletics checks and can use the Invisibility spell once per day."

Emberkin (Peri-Blooded):Peris are a race of celestials believed to be descended from fallen angels. They tend to be Neutral Good aligned and strive to do penence for the crimes of their ancestors. They are also my favorite of the Heritages.

Masters of fire magic, emberkin feel the dual pull of their peri forebear as well as that of a fallen angel further down their ancestry, and wrestle with their urges to do both good and evil.

Peri-blooded aasimars have a +2 racial bonus to Intelligence and Charisma, and a +2 racial bonus on Lore (Religion) and Knowledge (Arcana) checks and can use the Burning Arc spell once per day."

So now with all of that said one can clearly see that the Aasimar Heritages are ALL pretty great and can work for many builds or characters. Though I personally adore the Peri-Blooded, both for rp reasons the spell and the overall bonuses, I do wonder what the rest of y'all think. What do you think about each of these Heritages and their bonuses? What Heritage do you think works best for what class? And which of these has the most tempting spells or bonuses in your eyes?

not all are created equal. Half of Aasimar bloodlines are useless, and tiefling pretty much consists of motherless and shackleborn.

And which would you say are useless and why? Peri may be my favorite but I can certainly see Uncertain, Searing Light, and Invisibility being useful.

Eh, Oni-Spawns / Hungerseeds are also decent for martial-types. Only problem is that the Motherless extra bite is tough to beat.

I prefer the Pitborn for my Cornugon smash fauchard wielder.

cornugon smash is a trap. Needs to hit twice to trigger shatter. That needlessly prolongs kill time.

... and debuffs AB by using Power Attack. I mean it does work on Normal, I suppose.

Focus y'all. I'll make a thread for Tiefling's later tonight. This is the Aasimar's time to shine in the spotlight/microscope.

Ehm. garuda, musetouched, Angelkin are decent. Lawbringer situationally useful. That's about it. +4 stats as opposed to usual 2 free of charge, anti-blind halo and wings for midgame AC ramp. What could go wrong with the race?
That being said, humans are often better as they provide the same +4(if you count in +1 skill-point) and even more than +4 if you dump int. And then they get a feat on top of that to deal with the hardest part of the game.

Not a fan of Peri-Blooded, Undefined, or Azata? Their Burning Arc, Searing Light, and Glitterdust spells can all be rather useful. Especially the former two with how they scale up in power as you level up. It's a free offensive option that actively grows stronger with your character.

Not worth losing AB over. Only reason Lawbringer made the list is cause it offers wisdom. Although I would take human over Lawbringer in 9/10 cases(and that's being generous)

. . . . Wisdom bonus to AB . . . is this part of your AC Monk builds?

no I mean all of them offer AB bonuses(str or dex). Lawbringer is a special case for when you really want both wisdom and wings for some reason.

Ah! Alright. I tend to go for Charisma boosts myself. So Peri tends to be perfect for me.
