Consequences for failing Ekundayo's personal quest? (spoilers)
Specifically, it's the Bury the Past quest, and I did the bit where I find him at Gudrin Bridge fighting hill giants. It's the next bit, where he goes to have a funeral for his family or something, that I failed. This happened because the quest log warned me that my kingdom is in peril due to my delaying the story quests (I'm doing the Varnhold Vanishing quest), which made me nervous, so I decided to focus on that for a bit, and I ran out of time for the funeral.

The most recent manual save I can load to fix this is a few hours old and I really don't feel like redoing that much. I did notice that when I go back to the throne room now Ekun returns from his trip and it seems I can reassign him to an advisor slot and use him in my party again. I just don't know if missing that step messes anything up with him later in any major way.

If anyone knows whether this is the case or not, go ahead and spoil it for me. I know I should probably just play on and see what happens (or doesn't happen), but the opaqueness and inconsistency of some of the timed quests in the game is probably my biggest complaint about it, so I don't exactly relish the thought of screwing something up badly because of that.

Thanks.

Is he part of your main group? Are planing on using him in the future?

If you answer 'no' then just keep going, no need to reload unless he is a big part of your party.

if you care about the ending slides for him and ( probably his life by endgame afaik all characters that don't have their companion quest completed dies during a certain point in the game ) then yeah if not then its safe to move on.

Thanks for the replies. So far I've only used him for his companion quests and other parts where the game hinted I should use him, like the troll stuff. I wasn't planning to use him later on unless later quests called for it. I do have him assigned as my kingdom's warden, though.

When he came back on his own, he said that he took care of the burial, so in that sense the quest is completed, though I technically failed it. I've done all his previous quest steps and encouraged him to get over his issues and get with the innkeeper. That's the only reason I was a little frustrated about failing it-- I've done everything else for him so far and the game didn't really communicate the urgency of that next quest step, at least relative to everything else.

At this point I'll probably just go on and deal with whatever happens.
