How to identify items

400+ hours in and on my 2nd full playthrough (1st run got bugged out)

trying to figure out how to identify items in my party or its also bugged, i know that i just received the devourer of metal bow in the troll lair as well as a physical might belt and a great sword however all of them remain unidentified

i have detect magic users which are what i thought was how to identify items but apparently im wrong. went into group manager and brought in lindzi octavia tristian and jaethal but none of them could identify my items

is this a bug or how is this meant to work cause im not moving on til i give ekun his super acid bow to murderize some trolls

I think you need arcane lore to identify items. Do you have any user in your current group?

brought in octavia who has +16 to arcane lore and none of my items were identified

Woah I've never seen an item remain unidentified after picking it up.
I'd guess it's a check based on your knowledge: arcana or knowledge: world.

Take unidentified item out of inventory. Put it back into your inventory.

Not a bug. Next time bring someone with a high Arcana.
