As for weapon, the dlc loots is totally random making specializing in weapon really dangerous and specially for rare weapon type like fauchard. You need to be lucky.
I had run where i didn't find any longbow until floor 30+, one of the most common weapon type.
I'll check and see if he still has the +1 for sale he had before. The reach bonus will be REALLY nice at this point. I have improved cleaving finish, haste and 2 base attacks already. I probably shouldn't have done this the first time with this Alchemist build because it's very powerful and destroys everything (also very defensive). I'm just walking through all the fights so far, and I didn't even have a clue how to get back and buy stuff. Now I have 5k to spend on improvements!
Mostly just goblins + spiders and trolls so far for enemies. Wonder when the first boss will be. I don't use any of the minute spells right now (just run with all the 10 min/level spells going) so I don't really need to rest. Once it gets harder I'll switch.
Disarming traps seems to give alot of exp, and you see to get exp when you go down a level as well, sure making my guy level fast solo.
If this keeps up, could be a totally awesome fun way to just try out individual builds and play em solo, leveling up super fast lol. Course having sneak attack damage + high stealth + reach weapon + large crit range + improved cleave finisher is making this way easier then it will be for most other characters probably. You can rest ALOT though (am I the only one that tries not to rest much in the normal game?), with no penalty. You usually get a free rest from an enemy per level AND you have one upstairs per level as well, that is 2 rests...which means you don't have to conserve spells that much...so even going with a spellcaster solo might work pretty well.
Can't wait to try out the new kinitisit though.....probably solo Muahahah!!
Anyway it's fun, but no challenge at all so far.
As for party member #5 and 6, i usually don't level to 2 and they are quite easy to get before ending the first floor. You should soon have too much gold, so they should still be easy to get.
Just make sure one of your character is a master in perception with feats and class skill. Having other members good in it is also good. Some skills are also almost useless in the DLC.
I'm sure things are going to go south eventually being solo, but...I'm getting tons of good loot and sticking it in my shared stash. I even have +2 padded (Wearing them now) already.
Not sure how things are gonna turn out, but I may stick with just 3 or 4 chars next time anyway. Maybe go with 3 (double normal exp gained for all, but 1/3rd the exp I have been getting).
Big part of the ease though has been fast stealth + high stealth skill + super high damage. I enter a room with 5 monsters and take 2-3 of em out right away, then often get the first hit on the other 2 even....pretty crazy. There are 50 levels it looks like, but I wouldn't be surprised if I hit 20 by the 25th level at this rate (if I make it that far lol).
Vivi is so freaking insane. I have greater mutagen now, so my AC in +2 padded is 38, I have full resist of every element up all the time, heroism, barkskin (which stacks with mutagens natural ac), freedom of movement (not that anything has tried to impare my movement so far), and shield going all the time at this point.
I have 2 haste and 2 displacement to use (but have not yet) per rest....so if I do fight something hard....I'm prepared to be alot more defensive then I have been.
Shield covers magic missile, elemental resists cover most other spells, and I'm super hard to actually damage.
Even if you can't actually get all the way down solo, it sure is a fun way to test out a build, so gonna try it next with a kiniticist to test that out *hehe* Maybe go with 2 of them actually (covers more skills, double the perception chance) but still level up pretty fast.
So, if you're playing the standalone DLC, the dungeon has infinite levels (though I'm pretty sure you'll break the game at some point from getting too much EXP thus causing the game to crash from some sort of numerical overflow).
The enemies increase in stats and numbers as you go down (the types of enemies stops varying by like floor 50). Unfortunately, so do the skill check DCs. In other words, by floor ~80 or so, you need to pass >60 DC skill checks for perception/trickery/etc. You also need to be able to deal with a horde of 20 enemies in every room with >1,000 HP each. I've personally never made it further than floor 110, just because the enemies became too ridiculously strong (5x Wild Hunt Monarchs with 62 AC, 50+ saves, 60 AB, and a ton of plants/normal wild hunt monsters and Hamadryads).
I will probably figure out how many chars in a party it takes to get 20 right around the time you finish doing whatever it is for boons...if it's floor 50 and you just reach 20 by then with a party of 6, I might go with a party of 5 so I actually get to fight a bit at 20 with my party first.
I can see going through the early levels becoming a bit of a chore though, especially if eq carries over in your shared stack (since you'll have powerful eq to wear in the future, and there is no level limits on it). Doesn't seem like there is much challenge in the first 20 levels at least, but it still takes awhile to run through them.
That sounds rad man.
I see what you mean about money, it's starting to pile in, could even afford some of the really good stuff at this point. I'm still killing everything just about in 1 hit (and with cleave finisher that takes out a bunch usually). Still not seeing larger numbers though, generally max of 5-6 per room.
I kinda feel invulnerable as well, I have 30 resists for all elemental, can't be magic missiled, and have stone skin going if anyone actually manages to hit me. Hope it gets harder. The equipment I'm getting though is going to make future plays cake...since I have equipment that boosts strength and dex from 1 belt, +2 weapons of many types (some with elemental damage as well), light/medium/heavy magical armor, tons of wands of various kinds etc.
Still not bothering with haste or displacement, and still have not run into a boss at all. 5 hours and not one boss......I need a boss and some challenge (may have to play on a harder difficulty setting next time, this is just on flat normal (no changes).
Fun 5 hours, but yeah...nothing has even lasted more then like 2-3 rounds total, and the only reason i'll take any damage is if I forget to cast spells pretty much (which I won't).
The main gain is far more challenging then this.
Golem and monarch, keep going :)
I had bought a ring that doubled a kentic blasts crit range and everthing to prepare for my next run. Sigh. Oh well, this character looks good/powerful, and has stealth as a class feat....but does not have trickery (which is going to be...tricky). I may have to use skill focus trickery so I can get everything.
Almost went with the int dark kineticist one..so I'd have more skill points, but I realized the lore skills are worthless (you just don't get enough for em), and I don't seem to need athletics or mobility at all, so I just need trickery/stealth and massive perception.
Not sure how many feats will be needed (or even what works with blasts, although it looks like point blank shot and precise shot do).
I went with reach for my first alteration, although fan sounds good if a group attacks me. From last playthrough though, I never had THAT many enemies all together at once, and the first buncha levels should be cake.....I can use stealth and then the ability to reduce burn by 1 from range so I can reach attack for no burn at all:)
I took a boon for a level 14 amulet...and got a +3 natural armor amulet...which is pretty nice to start off with. I went with primarily dex and con on stats, so I'm gonna need a portable hole pretty fast (10 strength only!!).
Least I have lots of ways to boost my skills, I went cat familiar right away for +3 stealth and +2 perception, so that will help alot. I got the spread flame option at level 3...so now I can handle groups up close. That is good because the extended range wasn't actually being that useful lol).
No, the loot don't carry over. Only quests items(20?) do and i believe the further you go down the better the vendor become for next runs. (not by much)
