probably doesnt have a goto starting feats for ranged combat
bebopdrums2424 Sep 25, 2019 @ 12:14pm
i might as well re start...because my ranger does absolutely nothing except miss every shot, and then my other losers might hit once in a while and eventually end the battle.

The combat log will tell you a lot more if you hover over a line. Just mouse-over a line telling you you missed and you'll see the details of the attack including everything that affects (positively or negatively) your attack bonus and the enemy AC.

Which level are you? There's a big penalty for shooting at anything engaged in melee (as you're trying not to hit your own friends) but there's a feat to negate that down the line.
You can get the precise shot feat at level 1 after getting point blank if you're human, or as level 2 ranger in archery focus.

This role system is very indepth. Just chill out a little and read some guides. You can always respec. Play on normal difficulty as well

Don’t wait until you’re down the line. It’s called Precise Shot and you need it by lvl two at the latest. It requires Point-Blank Shot first.

You can get them both at first level if you’re Human, Fighter, or Divine Hunter Paladin. If you’re a non-Human Ranger you can get the one you’re missing from your Combat Style feat at level two. Choose Archery, then Precise Shot.

Thanks, yea im playing on normal, and also using the TB mod. I played POE2 on potd on tb, and all of divinity series so i prefer this mode..
If you're using mods, just make sure if you use the closer to tabletop mod you can choose for it to also enable soft cover that's not implemented in Owlcats version

Not until you’ve got a better idea what you’re doing and why.

Make sure you read this OP. The battle log is key in this game.

Yeah, rangers should seriously be hitting pretty well, so it might be a bug, specially with a 19 dex.

If you don't have precise shot you get a -4 to hit, but the dex you have gives +4...so that would even out.

If you got rapid shot, that could give you another -2...but also gives you another shot. And if somehow you got the deadly shots feat....that could give you another -1.

You could have taken state damage, or be fatigued I guess.

Or...you could be fighting a swarm? You'll do no damage at all against them with weapons (other then the torches or elemental damage weapons).

Sorc lvl is zero BAB. Range can start slow since no flanking. Feels like missing a lot if you’re used to always hitting.
