Beating the Boggard Champion before level 5.
I want to know what everyone's strategy for defeating him was because he is by far, the strongest encounter before the stag lord fight. What I did was I had the basic team setup of my rogue, bard, shield fighter, barbarian, cleric and inquisitor. I had already cleared out most of the map at that point; decked my team out in the best gear I could find at the time. My own character build was a rogue 3 / 1 monk so pretty squishy.

I set myself up just barely outside the fog of war, just far enough to see the champion outside the groups perception range. Pre-buffed everyone with everything I could with spells; potions and abilties. My first action was to have everyone use the charge action on the spellcaster boggard. If everyone charges him, he'll go down pretty hard. I have my bard hang back to cast 'Hold Person' on the champion, (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That thing rolls high and yes, I gave my bard spell focus on enchantments). After that, I clear out the rest of the boggards first, especially those that try and charge my bard. I keep my bard focused on hold person and hideous laughter on the champion, (literally fingers crossed if the works or not, a lot of save scumming here, (no shame in it)). As soon as the other boggards are down; trying my best to focus fire each one I then focus fire on the champion. I get flanking as soon as I can with my rogue and once he's squished, I try to flank with each character as much as I can. Cleric will try to heal, (but he squishes easy since the champion can hit over 20 AC pretty much all the time) but I always have him trying to hit and flank as well. But anyway, yeah, that's how I managed to beat him.

Did everyone else do something similar?

Grease is very helpful against him. What I do is I use every use of the grease wand before I pull (and all my casts). Then I pull with web. all the boggarts will stop dead in their tracks and you can go down the line killing them while they are prone.

Octavia casted web 2 sets of them if I recall correctly to create a larger field, everyone switched to ranged weapons and fired away,if one got trough the webs melee switched back to close combat and killed it.The fight did take me a couple retry tough I went there very early lv.

lol! I actually ran out of grease when I got to him! In hindsight, I should've saved some of that grease-juice for that encounter.

Any yeah, Web would've been great. Problem is I don't really used Octavia or Reongar that much. Not very experienced with using magus.

I stacked a Web and Grease in Vordokai's Tomb and had to wait until all my buffs ran out before Tristian could escape.

You can just Fascinate the whole cave at lvl 6.

The last DLC really is a massive disappointment. So mailed-in. Not one perception check or useful item in that whole cave. I just steamroller it at lvl 8 for some cash and EXP.

I had Tristan, Valerie, Amiri (as Barb 2 and Huntsmaster 2), Octavia, a Monk lvl 4 and my character (Slayer 3 and thug 1). When I first came upon the champion he massacred us with his cleave. Reloaded, buffed as you did (especially getting the monk's AC as high as possible -- to around 32 -- with his crane style, barkskin, and so forth), webbed them and used Amiri's leopard to keep the champion busy for two rounds while I killed the spellcaster and anyone else who came out of the web.

But then the champion and one remaining other Boggard came out and it was rough -- had to do a fighting retreat, running away and peppering him with ranged weapons as I did so (he doesn't have a high movement speed). Some acrobatics to avoid his attacks of opportunity and such, while Tristan revived the leopard behind him and further back near the web. Barely made it when we finally had to stop, surround him and finish him off. He made the mistake of aiming his cleave at the monk first, which led to two misses in a row -- by which time Tristan was back and could heal the monk after the third hit. It was close.

I used the grease wand to cast 12 grease pits in the same spot on top of a web trap. That allowed me to pull the boss (who passed all saves) and ignore the adds (who sat there failing saves for multiple rounds) to kill the boss solo.

When I first charged in, I got destroyed. So, I tried again with ranged weapons, and I had my sorcerer cast entangle. I also used some grease spells from Linzi. I had summoned 2 small elementals, and let them and my pets charge. First I focused spells and archers on the prophet. Then I had my sorcerer cast snowball repeatedly on the Champion. That seems to be especially effective. Magic missile works well do. I opened with burning arc. When a boggard got through eventually, I switched my warrior to melee and finished him off. I did use 1 alchemist potion but it only did 1 damage to the champion, so that was a waste. Snowballs ftw !!

Did with a level 4 party that included my MC as a sage sorcerer, linzi and octavia. It was all I needed.

Grease+web+hideous laughter absolutely wrecked them
