Ridiculous mechanics
This game is designed to chew through resources at an absurd rate.

- Your weapon breaks almost daily and requires a huge expense to fix.
- The food required for one single meal is like five steaks and a bunch of veggies. Does this family have tapeworms?
- Stealth is almost meaningless since you can't attack or even pick something up.
- Some mechanics are not explained and there are no guides online. For example, I have a fishing pole and bait but cannot use it for some reason at a fishing spot. It only says Cody can use it... why?
- How trapping animals works is not explained.

It just stops being fun.

1. Weapon do break easily at first. So, try to reduce fighting and use charged attack. In some area, you can charged attack to defeat zombies and destroy barricade together.

2. Food can be slightly difficult to obtain at early stage. But once you can get some seeds, you are almost good to go. I quickly complete quest with Mary to obtain seed for farming.

3. Stealth is especially useful to see wider and farther, and it can be use for Cody to snipe faraway enemies (once he learned how to use slingshot to kill zombies).

4. Skills need to progress one by one in order to able to do some new skills. Check your skill tree and unlock skills by completing its earlier requirement. ex: You will need to destroy a bunch of obstacle first, before Cody can start hunting animals with slingshot. Once he hunted enough animals, he can start hunting zombies, iirc.

How come I, not Cody, cannot use the fishing rod?

Why does my crowbar break after 1 days use? Get real.

None of my other questions were answered either.

1. the game has more to do with resource management. This means that you use your weapons (baseball bat, crowbar, axe, iron bar, sword, pistol and shotgun) sparingly and only when absolutely necessary.

There is also a skill that increases durability when you repair them. Weapons can also be upgraded to increase their durability.

If Cody can use the Slingshot he also can open some things with it, so you didnt need a Crowbar or the Iron bar for it.

2. steak, vegetables, potatoes, mushrooms give few percentage points when cooking. Use starch (usually 60 per cent) and fill up the rest with things that yield less. Always cook only as much as both eat, as the food spoils.

If you later upgrade the oven in the house, you will have meals that satisfy your hunger better.

Cody also has a skill that increases the points he recovers from eating/drinking when he cooks meals.

3. Stealth or sneaking is there to avoid enemies/hordes if possible. And yes, the field of vision is increased and if Cody can attack enemies with the slingshot, you can kill enemies without them seeing you.

4. sorry but the game is about Anling being bitten, so at some point she dies or can't do things anymore. So Cody has to learn this. Fishing, as I said, is all about laying out the bait in a net first. Anling can teach Cody how to do this. As soon as a certain number of lures have been laid out or fish have been caught, Cody can use the fishing rod.

The same as he first has to see Anling skinning/slaughtering animals several times and can then do it himself later. Fetching water is the same. Cooking the same. Repair/build/disassemble the same

And as Demonicslayer has already said, you can only learn the skills one after the other. Once the prerequisites are met, it unlocks.

5. at the beginning when Cody shoots at animals (crows) with his slingshot, they are caught and Anling can then slaughter them.

Later, crows/rabbits are simply shot by him.

The animal traps that you can build at home are placed near a rabbit hole. The animals are not caught immediately. If you pass by the next day or a few days later, there will be meat lying around near the rabbit trap.

Look, this is a SURVIVAL game. NOT a REALISM game. Go get your realism from those ultra realistic MMOGs and administration games. As for why you can't use the fishing rod but Cody can? Swinging a baseball bat or a crowbar or using them is easy peasy, but fishing with a fishing rod or a fishing net is a whole different ball game, as it requirements 2 arms, and a whole lot of skill and dexterity and agility not to mention proper timing. I should know since I'm pretty good at fishing with a fishing rod myself. And Anling has this super injured arm if you look closely enough?

You got angry and took the time to snark out a response to a year old post?
What fishing net? I’m so lost. Where do you get a fishing net?

You mean those that you place a bait to get fish? Those are: 1 at nation park southern side(over the bridge you fix) and 1 at the southern point of the harbour part in can factory.

You taking offense and getting aggro is wild and childish. Smh. He has valid gripes.
