There's a goal to survive 60 days. 99% sure that a day is ~16 minutes (1 minute per hour, 8 hours of sleep... although you often sleep sooner since you cannot always make use of the last time). So that's roughly 15 hours, assuming you never die or anything that makes you have to reload a save. It seems like there might be a reason to do a second play-through based on what I've read (multiple endings?), but I haven't tried.
If you know exactly what you're doing, it might be possible to "beat it" before surviving 60 days (or at least having stocked up so much on supplies you can just "skip" days).
I restarted about day 30, because I made a mistake that ended up slowing my progress to a crawl. I noticed the problem around day ~20, though. I've also had to reload a number of times because of dying, usually from too many zombies attacking me at once.
My mistake: I used up too much gasoline before fully repairing the car. The only gasoline I could get was from trading. Gasoline is also needed to make some of the parts for the car, so if you used up mechanical parts elsewhere, you need even more gasoline. Then, you start needing mechanical parts for other events, too. To avoid this problem, go light on house upgrades, never use gasoline unless necessary (no fast travel, cook with coal, trade for it if you see it on Katie or Noah, heal Cody with pills, not heating, if his health gets low) until you are sure you can upgrade the car's final level (the one that needs 8 gasoline) by day ~20. There's a middle ground, because my 2nd playthrough I was swimming in gasoline, so don't be *too*, too worried.
But the game will auto stop with a false ending whaterer you will do after the days +30 something like that...
