japanese translation?
is it good or not? because i play with english subittles, japanese voice acting, and sometimes i hear basic japanese words translated differently.
is there any examples of how they messed up a translation? i really don't want to miss all these japanese-character-lines
also, just wondering, does goro ma jima means anything, any japanese pun? he has a devil tatoo on his back and as i know "ma" means devil. jisho says jima is pride, and i don't know what goro would mean

This game has a very good localisation.
Localisation aims at that western players and japanese players have the same or atleast similar experience.
You can't translate word by word from japanese to english. Many things wouldn't make any sense. Especially puns, jokes and other cultural stuff.

thats a reply i expected, not a "its called localization"
because i know how messed up localization might be, especially with far cry 5 getting translated to russian like translators had to make some stuff up instead of translating

As someone who wants to do localisation, by God does that make me angry. On Russian localisation -- there was a lot of good stuff in the early/late 2000's, then... yeesh, it derailed from then on.
Also -- yeah, this game has been masterfully localised. :predictable_roui:

The Kanji of Majima Goro is 真島吾朗, with "maji" as 真 (meaning true) and "ma" as 島 (meaning island). And in his case Goro means something like: one who's enlightened/one who sees clearly.

Also on his irezumi: the hannya isn't exactly a "devil" in the western sense, more like a hateful spirit transformed from a woman torn by jealousy. A more general explaination of the irezumi in Yakuza can be found here http://store.steampowered.com

But another fan noted that Majima's irezumi has a lot of feminine symbolism (literally having a jealous female demon on his back and that snakes also symbolize female fertility in japanese culture).

Jima means island IE Iwo Jima or Miyajima.

Sorry, my japanese-romanic letters knowledge is totally based on my knowledge of manderine (for the kanji), and taking note of people's name that corrolate with the kanji
