Essence of Finishing Blows blows hard

So, I am doing this stupid tutorial thing with Bacchus (well enjoying Kiryu getting the ♥♥♥♥ kicked out of him right now) In one hour I got the combo right one time - any other timer it either has the guy on the ground suddenly jumping me near a wall or Kiryu straddles him to beat him in the face.

Online there are many opinions on how to do this - but nothing really seems to help. I got the red bams from the x/mouseleft button so often right, then downed him with the Y/mouse right and tried almost every position with the hitman and I only get the other two moves.

I can't seem to down him in the middle, as he always doged and shif and when I do the x combo he always ends up going back against the wall. Anyone got a useful hint? Oh well going to bed for now ...

You have to do the x combo 3 times then Y and then when Kiryu backhands him hit Y again (X X X Y backhand Y) The backhand has to knock him to the ground and that's when you hit Y again

Nope that's nto what you do - I've been doing that nearly two dozen times and all Kiryu does is curb stomp him .... (edit not to mention it's incredible rare Kiryu does the backhand knockout - most of the time he does the pummel to the ground - which also triggers if he does the backhand move to close to a wall ... which is like nearly always as someone decided to have this tutorial in a narrow space with an opponent who slips around so it constantly triggers all the other moves that use the same button presses) I am going to try again after work - but I think it's not worth it, the other combos are good enough i don't need this useless move ... I just would've liked to complete the training set :(

are you using a controler or keyboard and mouse? A friend of mine had the same problem with a controler while i was able to get it first try with keyboard and mouse. Turns out the prompts were registering multiple times than the amount of times she pressed the button.

I don't know how I did it, but eventually (with controller although I did try keyboard, too ) I just tried over and over again and eventually I did it at the right millisecond - phew, now I am going to playing something else for a while I think. But yeah got no useful hint for anyone googling this in the future - just try to hit the buttons and eventually you'll get it right on accident.

Then again, I feel near the end I worked out the backhand combo more often than the other punchout - but even then I was not getting him to do the heat action despite pressing when the thing flashed up ... (he did the curb stomp thing instead)

I fixed the issue by unplugging controller. So the thing is, you have to have only one input device.

It's not triple sqare, triangle, and triangle (or triple Left mouse button, Right button and again Right, if you playing with keyboard and mouse) - it's only twice sqare, then twice triangle and final "heat" triangle. I tried that and got the combo.

no, it isnt 2 squares, its actually 3 squares, + 1 triangle and heat move
also that combo ur referring is not mention in the tutorial

i tried testing it if im wrong, turns out it didint work for me, all i did was doing essense of curb stomping

tried 2 squares, 2 triangles on controller n finished training pretty quickly after struggling with the 3 squares 1 triangle. Worth trying I say

one of the easiest combos imo and pretty powerfull too, Kiryu way to OP, which is what this game about, near the end of the game i feel like Kiryu has all possible counters and can deal with anything ranging from blocks to completely owherwhelming odds. Majima is much more tricky to play without weapons and even with them. Though hes pretty powerfull too. Dunno why they made his "harsh lesson" move to be available only on 3d bar, its pretty strong but more or less hard to pull, Kiryu has swaps and counters for free in every stance already, not to mention 50 counters when you near wall or just elbow crush.

since in yakuza 0, kiryu is a bit too op, since they nerf the damg in kiwami, however, it still use the same prompt as it shown in the bucchus training

This. After trying for like 10 mins to get it succeed even once with what game suggests, no luck. Then tried 2 square+2(+1) triangle and got all three tries in a row easily.
