I doubt that would happen, but at least they have the original music in the game. I think that is about as far as they will go. As for the petition, i will sign it.
As for looking at other suggestions for Secret of mana on change.org..i see people also want to port over the collection they released in japan awhile ago...that would include the first game remake (final fantasy adventure), and the third game in the series..would be nice if that came over too...apparently they want it on the switch..maybe if they do that, they might do it on here too..so i voted for that too..
Why only for the switch?
there is no cut content you could get today, it has already been used.
1. Secret of Mana was created from Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu 1), not really from the CD (or so little). The content of the CD-Rom was therefore rather useless for Seiken Densetu's series... and became Chrono Trigger later... As we can see, the artworks created for the CD project were made by Toriyama.
« Once everyone learned that the CD-ROM adapter was never going to see a release, they decided to abandon everything that had been planned for development since the very start, including Toriyama-sensei's contributions, and decided to revise the project in order to make it release into a ROM cassette. We said that we would wait for the CD-ROM to make a collaboration project with Toriyama-sensei, but when it was revised, it actually became an entirely different project with an entirely different direction. That was what later on was completed into the game we know as Chrono Trigger.»
2. Thus, the CD project had nothing to do with Seiken Densetsu's series because at that time, Seiken Densetsu 1 was already existed and the creator was on a new serie never seen before.
« the new RPG I wanted to start making — one that didn't have a command-style battle system (Motion Battle System) and tested the reflexes of the players — wasn't a title that existed at the moment. »
3. So it was the death of the CD-Rom project that decided Square to make a sequel to Seiken Densetu known as Seiken Densetsu 2 Secret of Mana : that title was never planned at all to be developed on CD but the CD's death has allowed the Seiken Densetu serie to resurrect since its last episode on Gameboy !
« I decided to make it into a sequel for Seiken Densetsu, so we reestructured everything to use the world setting we had already from the previous game, and Seiken Densetsu 2 was finally completed.»

4. The CD project that many think is close to Secret of Mana, had to have a much darker story so it is not possible to associate it with Secret of Mana and moreover, what could be covered was used in Chrono Trigger.
« Many of the ideas we had for the CD-version came fortunately to use later, when we did Chrono Trigger, says Hiromichi Tanaka. In fact, the original version of Secret of Mana was not at all the same game as we eventually released. The first version of the game had for example a much darker tone. »

5. Phoenicopterus roseus (Phoenix=rebirth) is the name given for the Greater flamingo in Ornithology : those birds that can be seen in Secret of Mana. So the death of the CD gave a new birth to Seiken Densetsu's serie but the new birth has so little thing to do with the ancient project with Toriyama ...
Well, I hope it is usefull info ... with the weblinks for anyone who wants to know more.
What is completely crazy is that Seiken Densetsu alias Final Fantasy Adventure was an Action RPG and that's why this serie replaced the dead CD project! Because the CD-project's objective was to make an Action RPG, Final Fantasy Adventure was best placed to serve as a new environment for replacement of the dead project.
My sources say that the game was greatly cut, to fit on the 16mb cartridge.
I mean what the hell was with the lighthouse or with the lunar quest, where he just says "go there, master lunar is not at home." Or the moonpalace, where there's barely anything in it.
Also, when you look at the worldmap, you can clearly see that there are locations that have been left out.
It genuinely saddens me.
It's a small miracle this was a remake and not a port. I'd have never expected so much love for the series. I hope it did well enough for Seiken Densetsu 3 to be in the pipeline.
They probably fixed the insanity of using the midge mallet to shrink the sprite or girl and then using the secondary character ring from another character to absolutely obliterate anything in the game without it being able to move. Magic is still going to break the game balance wise if you choose to do so though.
The semi-recent remakes of the first two games in the series are actually faithful pretty much to a fault sometimes. That is awesome or bad depending on your perspective. Personally from how far I've gotten in the game I loved the scenes in inns they added where the characters talk about stuff.
