Randi is a horrible name.
These characters did not have names when I bought the game back in 1993. GET OFF MY LAWN.

Randi was the original name

Popoi can't remember their name. The first thing Randi comes up with is Popoi?
I guess he thought of Poppo, stars and dice or something. (making a reference here :p)

The original game didn't have voiced skits in the hotel when you sleep either.
It did have cannon cutscenes which this game doesn't. It also had a special animation for landing on the fortress which this game doesn't. There's some stuff I wonder about. I recall some scenes that are missing like that at least. And they added stuff no one asked for. ;sweat;
thinking it makes up for the cost or something? because voice actors are that expensive, is that the reason I wonder?
never mind. I am getting off topic.

Anyway yeah, I think his name was left blank and you had to fill it in yourself when you named the character.

By the way, even if you keep the default name, sometimes you hear bleeps in the sound instead of the name due to bugs, which should only happen if you change the name. (idk why they thought bleeps were a good idea)

None of the characters had names!

I did little quick search. I didn't find their name on super nintendo game menu book. I did find a bit of information about their name from fandom wiki. Original name show in a japanese gamest magazine.

The problem with fandom wiki they didn't show japanese gamest magazine. They even said (The origin of the heroes' names is somewhat cloudy). Make me wonder if there is japanese magazine of it.

Load it up. The names are blank when you create your characters.

Yeah, the original US SNES version didn't even offer you a name to change. You simply had to name your own characters. Those were dark times indeed. Also I don't much like the names they gave the characters, but we can still name them whatever we want.

At least the internet is no longer full of the misconception that Prim's name was "Pudding" in the Japanese instruction manual because プリム -> purim -> purin -> プリン -> Flan or Pudding, as it was, back in the day.

But they had no original names. The "original" names were retconned. Does that make them original? (Actually asking for discussion, not being snide.)

Since i play the original game, i know him as randi. in the lore, his name is Randi and thats his orginal name :)

@Pisaro27 In the original release they did not have names. By the time you played it, perhaps the version you had included the names, but that was added later.

@Strykerx88: Since you asked seriously... I believe it's all in the definition of "original", which literally means "present or existing from the beginning; first or earliest". The beginning in this case is relative. The character had no name when the game was first released, so at the character's origin there was no name and therefore he has no original name, and the OGs are right. But now he has a name, and the "earliest" name that he had was Randi, so the first/earliest name was Randi, and the fetuses are right. In short, everyone is right, and anyone with a strong opinion on the matter should be made fun of and laughed at.

In the SNES version their names were left blank, however I believe the names Purim, Popoie and Randi were from the Japanese manga that was around during the time and they've just been slightly changed for their default names in the remake. You don't have to use those names though, you can call them whatever you like.

You're wrong.

"All There in the Manual: This was where the canon names for the main characters used to live. According to the original Japanese version's manual, the boy is Randi, the girl is Primm, and the sprite is Popoi"

I'm sorry, I played the US version where their names were blank and they weren't mentioned in any form or fashion, therefore they did not have names and the MC's new name is horrible.
