**SCREAMS** DRAGON WARRIOR/QUEST 4, for NES or DS, PORT THIS! PLEASE, I'D PAY 40 BUCKS TO HAVE IT ON PC JUST TO HAVE IT, NO REMAKE NEEDED!
Secret of Evermore was more done by a North American studio close with Nintendo so I highly doubt that will ever come to the PC or other non-nintendo platform. Still would enjoy seeing a lot of those. Not buying any more remakes though. This game is a hot mess. What a let down.
It controls 2 players at once and they get hung up on things and it's really confusing. They don't follow like they did in the snes version. They just get stuck. I can't use the keyboard to play games like this.
Why didn't they just use the SNES cartridge data and an emulator. I am sure one of the people who wrote the darn emulator would love a bit of funding there. Now I am *NOT* condoning illegal downloads, however, if you have a cart-dumper like me, so you can use save-states (which the cart-dumper itself can do in real time on the real system), or to use custom maps/levels/etc and also game genie and cheat codes on it, it's 100% legal.
Never-mind it works flawlessly 100% of the time. Yeah. I wish I could say that for these ports.
THE LESS THEY TOUCH REMAKING THINGS, THE BETTER, I DON'T CARE IF IT'S PIXELATED, IT WORKS!
FFV and FFVI were great ports, I didn't have an ounce of trouble with either of them.
THIS GAME, HAS GIVEN ME A MIGRAINE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK WITH A SNES CONTROLLER, THE SYSTEM IT WAS ORIGINALLY BROUGHT FROM. WHAT GIVES?
I have to use joy to key. It won't pick up my joystick at all without it. Never-mind they swap the accept and cancel buttons back and forth if you use another player's ring menu. Then the cancel button STOPS WORKING. Lovely. Never again buying a remake, ports are OK but no remakes, not from this company.
Would have liked to have Dragon Quest V and VI on the PC, but alas, I bought imported Super Famicom carts off Amazon and put them on my cart loader on my SNES. I now have them running on here with a JP to US patch. Works 100% and loving it, everyone should get these two gems. Heck even Dragon Warrior 3 for NES was awesome and it's Dragon Quest III on the Super Famicom. Keep in mind you need either to take your game genie apart (take the back casing off it), or modify your SNES to run super famicom carts on an American SNES.
I use a Super UFO Pro but there's also SD2SNES and a few other's out there with various way to save/load cart info, apply patches (Translations or maps), back up SRAM (saved games), etc. No more losing your progress to a 25+ year old battery - that is 100% the best reason :)
IF SQ-ENIX IS GOING TO PORT THINGS, PORT IT, DONT TOUCH THE GAME, THE MORE YOU TOUCH, THE MORE YOU MESS UP. I WILL BUY GAMES I ALREADY OWN ON SNES ON HERE TO SHOW SUPPORT BUT NOT IF IT'S A DISASTER.
No, seriously, do check out Dragon Quest V, DeJap did a translation for english speakers, it's the best RPG after FFVI and possibly original SOM (not this version!!!).
Why can't they do what Sega did and have an Emulation master-program, and you just buy the games 'a'la-carte' (pun intended). That would be awesome. Sega Genesis/Megadrive Classics is awesome, I have almost every game and I love it. Configure the program and it's DONE.
Again, FFV and FFVI were great (some complained about the gfx on it, I didn't care at all), I had 0 issues with it other than I stank at it for about the 1st 2~3 hours before I remembered stuff from 25 years ago when it was new. Keep more ports simple, straight forward, it's less work, and it's what we remember! Again, I will buy any games you port over, I don't care if the graphics are a little 'mushy' or 'blurry' or whatever, I just care that it plays right and doesn't look messed up from the original.
--Good luck and good thread guys.
Goes to show you that any game by Square can be ported to steam just so they can make a quick buck.
But right now if I only had one game to choose to be on steam, it would have to be Parasite Eve 2 for personal purposes.
Lufia also missing
and
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is on steam as i know. atleast i have it in my archiv.
