Final Boss fight bug

No matter what I do, I can't get the battle with Ifrit in the citadel to start.

I enter the Citadel, the cutscene with Ardyn plays and then Ifrit appears. Afterwards, the scene from the beginning of the game plays out (where Noctis gets a fireball to the face) and then I'm prompted to "fight Ifrit". That's all well and good, however, the game wont allow me to target Ifrit, meaning I cant even draw my weapons or attack, and he wont attack me either. The battle wont initiate, so we're just sitting there staring at each other.

I've tried running around and trying to get his attention, reloading my saves, and using Umbra to travel back to past Lucis and then return Insomnia, but nothing has fixed this.

If anyone has had the same problem or has any idea for a fix, please let me know! I cant finish the game at this rate!

I have the same problem and haven't found a solution (although all I've done is loaded my save before the fight like 2 times) let me know if you found a solution?

Replying to this late, but I found a solution that worked for me. Before engaging the final boss fight I switched my quest objective to a side quest, then started the cutscenes. Once the cutscenes ended and the Ifrit fight began, the quest automatically switched back to the main quest and the fight began properly. Hope this helps anyone still encountering this problem!

It not works for me. I hope Square Enix fix this issue about the Ifrit bossfight some day.

same problem as well so i just stopped playing. Ive tried all the things above and reinstalled game even still have same problem.

So I went back to Lucis and completed a couple quests, then when I came back it worked! Don't know what happened, but maybe try that? (And also verifying game cache)

how do you verify game cache?

I did that. It not works.

I have this exact same problem. changing quests doesnt fix it nor will the game cache get verified. I dont want to start the game from scratch just to find the bug still there.

One of the accessories you are equipping is causing the glitch (probablu tri-head heart) . Change all your current accessories to thrashy ones and try again. That's how I solved the glitch
