[solved] Steam wants to re-download, even when preloaded

Hey, some guys noted I should post this here, so here I am...

Problem:
I had a preloaded game, but steam wanted to download it all again.

Here is solution that worked for me:
1. Move all the preloaded files to different folder (not only the ones in temp folders! but also manifest files, etc.)
2. Let Steam download new files for a bit (5 - 10 mins?)
3. Turn off steam
4. Replace the new files with the ones you had before (the preload)
5. Turn on Steam and it should finish

EDIT2: If there are no files in Depotcache folder, apparently steam will delete them in some cases (probably because they are considered temporary?)... After that, there is no helping... :(

Apparently steam will delete the pre-loaded files in some cases... After that, there is no helping...

I give up. Im just going to delete all the FFXV files and then download it fromt he start, seems like the only solution left.

1. Close Steam
2. Rename the FINAL FANTASY XV folder to OLDFINAL FANTASY XV
3. Open steam and press uninstall (This won't uninstall the game as it can't find the files)
4. Close Steam again
5. Name the OLDFINAL FANTASY XV back to FINAL FANTASY XV
6. Open steam and hit install (Make sure you select the same drive)
7. Steam rather than downloading it is now looking for Existing files
8. Game's up and running, worked for me at least so hopefully it helps others.

This worked for me but not sure about everyone else

Do you still have the chache files?
