Doesn't matter how old games are. they are still IP's and it's on sale. Therefore it still a viable product.
Your PS4 and all consoles have DRM also. You own nothing but a license.
I'm old enough to have physical copies of games that *don't* need the internet or any form of DRM.
The most DRM they used to have was a question in the manual you owned with the game; For eg 'how many children did Alex have' on Page 4. You answered it by typing it in the games question. Then you played it. It would randomise questions every time you played.
So you had to have a copy of the manual to play a 'stolen' game.
Back then nobody was going to print off hundreds of pages and go down to a shop to do it!
This is before the internet turned into a cesspool.
Now thanks to the internet and hackers that don't give a ♥♥♥♥, we have anti-piracy measures.
People used to have morals and would borrow a game from a friend, like it and buy it for the glorious manual etc -some of the manuals i have are spiral bound and go into 600+ pages like the Falcon 4 manual.
Put it this way, your not going to give away anything of value you own -regardless of age, are you? So Denuvo affects everyone.
If you don't want it, then it's simply a case of not buying it.
even GoG doesn't sell it
The difference between PS4 and Denuvo is that the DRM on PS4 is actually completely meaningless now with emulation. I'll ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ own my copy when it comes in the mail. If ShadPS4 compatibility is good enough, I could just load it up on my Steam Deck, DRM be damned. Denuvo doesn't give me that level of freedom. If I change my Proton settings, that counts as an extra install. Do it enough and it locks me out of the game for 24 hours. If there comes a point where this game came phone home anymore, it'll be completely unplayable. That's what I'm concerned about, and it's why I'm going with PS4 instead until Denuvo is removed.
Going console is also a good option for those who do not like having kernel-level anti-cheat software on their PC (Personal Computer). Gaming consoles are mainly for gaming only. This game however does not come with a kernel level anti-cheat.
Read, people. Please.
Server-based DRM on the PC is pretty much the only reason I also keep a console around. The only reason I have FFXV on the PC is because Square Enix was nice enough to accidentally push a debug build without Denuvo, so I won't have to worry about asking permission to play my purchase in the future.
