Easily the worst FF I've ever played

I've played them all starting with FF1 when I was a kid and this is by far the worst. It has a terrible story with cringe dialogue at times. The voiceovers are horrible, the combat was clunky and the characters were unlikeable and had this forced camaraderie that just falls flat. It looked pretty though.

I have to agree with you, aside from the gorgeous open world, the characters are just bland and adventuring for over more than 100+ hours without a female member in your party feels like it's a simulation of being 'not straight'

That's a you issue if you can't handle the bromance.

Also there's a mod now to add Iris, Aranea and even Umbra to your party. Adding people to your party by talking to them should've been a feature already though.

I just started chapter 10, finished two of the DLC episodes, and have been doing a ♥♥♥♥ ton of sidequests up to this point.

So far, I like this game, but it could've been so much better. THIS is the Final Fantasy that needed to cook and be a slow burn trilogy of games, not FFXIII. There's so much implied story and stuff going on in the background that it really did a disservice to overall story to not give it more time to breath.

"A Final Fantasy for fans and first timers alike" is such a pretentious tagline for what ended up being a middling at best entry in the series. All the pretty graphics and open world space in the universe couldn't have saved it because it just wasn't a finished game on release.

Even with all the DLC content, none of it managed to fix the fundamental flaws present in the core game. I blame the tumultuous development period and the effort to cram extended universe garbage down our throats. Let games be games, you can keep your crappy movies Square.

That said, there's enough to at least warrant coming back to it occasionally, it sits just above XIII at the bottom of my list though for the mainline games.

This is all saying nothing about the abysmal quality of the Steam port itself.

Dont play this as a Final fantasy game(because its just barely is one) play it as a generic jrpg.

and if you think the story sucks its because it does. this game was stuck in development hell for 10 years and had 2 directors with multiple re wrights and they decided to keep disjointed bits and pieces in to make one hell of a cluster ♥♥♥♥ of a story.

also you need to go out of your way to watch a movie, anime, 4 DLCs, and a book if im not mistaken giving this game a story as Janky as destiny 1.
