What's the leveling technique here? hold exp from level 1 until what point? Or do I just find a good hotel/camp?
I read about an optimal leveling strat where you hold exp from level 1 until a certain point because the exp bonus was really good. I'm not sure if there's a particular place to reach before you eat and rest.

Even then, how do I sustain myself if I'm underleveled?

be warned, story missions will cash xp in for you with no exp multiplier

Aren't you locked to doing (mostly) story missions till chapter 3? So I should just level from hte best places first?

do all sidequests and hunts you can find, then camp, then do story until you get more side stuff. don't bother with farming wildlife for xp.

Are quests higher than me by 4-5 levels manageable? I never really bothered with the side quests on my first playthrouh... i had to switch to easy come Ifrit and Ardyn lmao.

i think so. from my little experience, at lv12 you can even poke a lv30 iron giant to death with deluxe weapons, lv42 red giant is too strong though.

Really the grinding is towards the end of the game. A good trick is to save up exp and sleep at the Lestallum hotel for a 2x multiplier or Altissia Royal Suite for a 3x multiplier. For example I just rested at the Altissia Royal Suite with 400,000 EXP and earned 1,200,000 EXP instead. It's how I got to lv 100 so fast. I kept grinding hunts for money and the boss in the DLC quest, Adventurer from another world, for exp until I saved up 3-500,000 exp then rested in Altissia. I did it about 3 times to get from lv 60-100. Until you can comfortably travel and survive at night, which is around level 35 but keep in mind Red Giants will still be almost impossible to kill, it's best to just follow the story and sleep wherever is closest when night falls. Otherwise the Daemons are gonna eat ya.

Dont bother with powerleveling untill you beat main story. Its far too easy to outlevel common enemies and make game too boring. Dont sell rare coins and anything that starts with "debased". Using those treasures as magic catalysts will help with maxing your level in endgame faster.

Put the ring who can hold the exp on one of your member party, then do the story until a point you want to x2 or x3 the exp, im lvl12 but with pot and some other stuff you can beat mob way higher lvl than you as long as you cait and you have time lol

Banking XP before you hit endgame is not worth it. XP requirement raise dramatically after level 99. To get to max level (120) you need 10x more xp than to get to old cap (level 99).
Once you start doing actual powerleveling strats in endgame (farming timed cactuars and using expericast magic) you wont even notice those 200-500k xp you saved from questing. You'll be getting same ammount every 10 minutes or so.

You might see an item in your inventory that stops you from leveling up (I forget what its called), but keeps your xp banked for you.

You can use that and store up the xp until you find an inn that gives 2-3x the rate when you sleep :lunar2019piginablanket:

[EDIT]
...Someone already mentioned this like a couple posts above me lmaooo
But yea, its a pretty good idea ;D

Thanks for thread necro.

This game is far too easy to need to bank xp at all and if you do any of the add in bonuses or tie ins with other game or timed quests they shovel XP at you.
