unable to trigger monster of the deep sidequest

please go to 5min 8sec in the video in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp-ffdqmJHw&t=327s to see how the person who made the video trigger the quest. he approached the island that has a slope at an angle and then the quest triggered and a picture of the island was shown with the quest name

https://youtu.be/9QedK0iJxtM is what happens when i tried to trigger the sidequest. i approached the island and nothing happened and at 18 sec in the video i got pushed by an invisible wall which made my boat turn to the left (i didnt turn the boat and it turned on its own)

what am i doing wrong? is my angle of approach bad? i had that problem in chapter 12. i completed the game and i tried it again and still the same problem :(

Do you actually have the quest? It starts in Altissia.

the quest that starts in aaltissia is the second sea god. i already did it. the mummy bass fish is part of another quest and i am unable to trigger it

as i am guessing i have to drive the boat until gladius makes a comment on the fish. but the problem is he is not making that commeent

i dont know. i guess my game is glitched and i cant trigger the quest. anyway i went north of that island, found a big red spot on the radar, did wait for morning, the red spot stayed there so it means i am in the right place and after that i caught the mummy bass without triggering the sidequest

You have to take your Royal vessel out on the sea, when you ride to a certain location (I remember it near Angelgard) Gladio will say something & that's when the quest starts.

After my stupid suggestion earlier, let's see if I can do better: are you sure you haven't already beaten the quest? If you get the CS and go to the spot, that's the quest completed -- catching the fish isn't actually part of it. Could you have gotten it a long time ago and just forgotten? Is the completed quest in your quest list? What you're describing is what would happen to someone who's already done the quest and activated the fishing spot.
