Hi
Playing with a Dualshock 3 and scptoolkit, i'm wondering if there is any way to force the display of playstation buttons. I know the game have built in support for DS4. No mods or anything ? Thanksies.

Don't think that is possible without modding, and I don't think there is a PS button mod

FF15 supports PS controller prompts out of the box. You need to use Steam Input, without it game falls back to generic prompts.

ScpToolkit will be detected as an Xbox controller by Steam Input.

When the game first released on PC I would get xbox or the generic blue icons with this game, using a PS4 controller, both on my older Win7 rig and my current Win10. But since I'd played it on PS4 already for countless hours I'd already memorized the buttons and had no problems, lol.

At some point the game stopped doing that and now it's always the PS4 prompts. I don't know what changed. I just assumed Steam or Square changed something. Or maybe even Win10. Who knows.

I don't use any 3rd party script or tool, just checked PS4 in Steam's controller config menu. Oh, I also use it plugged into the PC/wired, not bluetooth etc.

it works if i plug in my controller first before launching the game

Sometimes game starts out of focus for me. If I dont click with my mouse somewhere on screen while its still loading main menu I get generic prompts. I think this happens because FF15 entirely relies on Steam Input and by extension Steam overlay, otherwise it simply falls back to generic.

Yeah that's the problem.

So, no buttons mods and no way to force ps inputs. Damn, have to stick with those dumbs xbox prompts, for a final fantasy game.... Seriously, a FF game have to be played with PSX buttons (yeah FFXV too, even if it's just the ghost of a FF game. ^_^). It's surprising no one have made a simple mod like that. Thanks anyway everybody.

That makes sense. I've noticed the game does that a lot on launch.

Lets just skip straight to NES prompts then :steamhappy:
Get DS4, it should work without 3rd party drivers. Or Xbox controller, its default windows gamepad, and its simply better :steammocking:

So I know this is a late comment, but I was just searching for a solution to this problem and couldn't find one. However, I ended up figuring it out. When you have the game launched, bring up the steam overlay with shift+tab and select "controller settings" in the bottom tray (should appear as a controller icon). It should bring up the steam controller settings; if you hit the settings/cog icon to the right of "Edit Layout" and select "Disable Steam Input" that should revert the game back into using native DualShock icons. For some reason Steam tries treating PlayStation controllers as third party even though the game natively supports them, and I think that's what causes the game to provide the xbox icons as default. Hopefully this is helpful for someone even though this comment is a few years late haha

lmao im using ds4 and never had any issues with ps button prompt. I just to make sure my controller connected before I launch the game, if no the default button is present and I have to restart the game

I think you need configure your steam input dualshock compatibility, this can be done in big picture mode settings.
